  • 2. Jaswant Garh War Memorial Tawang
    Jaswant Singh Rawat was an Indian rifleman soldier of 4 Garhwal Rifles, Uttarakhand who won the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously at the Battle of Nuranang in the present day Arunachal Pradesh during the 1962 India-China war. He was born on 19 August, 1941 to Shri Guman Singh Rawat, in the village of Baryun, Pauri Garhwal District, Uttarakhand. The bravery shown by Jaswant Rawat was honoured by building a memorial at the post where he fought the Chinese Army. The post which he held was named Jaswant Garh. Another honour bestowed upon him is that he continues to serve even after death: he has been awarded promotions as if he is still serving the nation.

    The Digboi Refinery was set up at Digboi in 1901 by Assam Oil Company Ltd. The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd took over the refinery and marketing management of Assam Oil Company Ltd. with effect from 1981 and created a separate division. This division has both refinery and marketing operations. The refinery at Digboi had an installed capacity 0.50 MMTPA . The refining capacity of the refinery was increased to 0.65 MMTPA by modernization of refinery in July, 1996. A new delayed Coking Unit of 1,70,000 TPA capacity was commissioned in 1999. A new Solvent Dewaxing Unit for maximizing production of microcrystalline wax was installed and commissioned in 2003.     The Ledo Road was an overland connection between India and China, built during World War II to enable the Western Allies to deliver supplies to China, to aid the war effort against Japan — as an alternative to the Burma Road became required, once that had been cut-off by the Japanese in 1942.
