Trabzon Province is a province of Turkey on the Black Sea coast. Located in a strategically important region, Trabzon is one of the oldest trade port cities in Anatolia. Neighbouring provinces are Giresun to the west, Gümüşhane to the southwest, Bayburt to the southeast and Rize to the east. The provincial capital is Trabzon city, and the traffic code is 61. The major ethnic groups are Turks, but the province is also home to a minority of Muslim Pontic Greek speakers, though younger speakers are not always fluent in this language.

  • 2. Ortahisar Trabzon
    Ortahisar is a planned district and second level municipality in Trabzon Province, Turkey. According to Law act no 6360, all Turkish provinces with a population more than 750000, will be metropolitan municipality and the districts within the metropolitan municipalities will be second-level municipalities. The law also creates new districts within the provinces in addition to present districts. These changes will be effective by the local elections in 2014. On 30 March 2014, Ahmet Metin Genç was elected mayor. Thus after 2014 the present Trabzon central district will be named Ortahisar and the name Trabzon will be reserved for the metropolitan municipality.

    Uzungöl , or in the local Romeyka language: Şeraho, is a lake situated to the south of the city of Trabzon, in the Çaykara district of Trabzon Province, Turkey. Uzungöl is also the name of the village on the lake's coast. Over the years, the picturesque lake, its village and the surrounding valley have become popular tourist attractions. The lake is at a distance of 99 km from Trabzon's city center, and 19 km from Çaykara's district center. It was formed by a landslide, which transformed the stream bed into a natural dam, in the valley of the Haldizen Stream.The area is most famous for its natural environment.     Karaca Cave is a network of caves located near the town of Torul in Gümüşhane Province, Turkey. Although the cave was known to the people living in that region, it became open to tourism as a result of the scientific research conducted by Sukru Eroz, a geological engineer from Cebeli Village, between the years 1983-1990. Prof. Dr. Remzi Dilek and his team from the Department of Geological Engineering at the contributed a lot of research and scientific studies of the cave. As a result of these studies, it was opened to tourism in 1996 after the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was informed and the cave was officially registered.

    Mount Sis is a mountain in Görele, Giresun Province, Turkey. Its elevation is 2182 m . Mount Sis Festival attracts hundreds of people from Giresun and Trabzon to visit Mount Sis. During the festival, traditional costumes are worn by visitors. The first Mount Sis Festival is thought to be held in 1830s. Mount Sis has also a plateau which is called Sis Dağı Yaylası in Turkey.
