Transnistria, officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is an unrecognised state which split off from Moldova after the dissolution of the USSR and mostly consists of a narrow strip of land between the river Dniester and the territory of Ukraine. Transnistria has been recognised only by three other mostly non-recognised states: Abkhazia, Artsakh, and South Ossetia. The region is considered by the UN to be part of Moldova.   • 1. The Christmas Cathedral Tiraspol
    The Nativity Church, also known as the Cathedral of the Birth of Christ, is the largest and newest church in Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria. It is a Russian Orthodox Church completed in 1999 to serve as the Mother Church of the Orthodox Christian Diocese of Tiraspol. Celebrations marking the completion of the cathedral included, among other things, the issuing of a series of postage stamps featuring the church . In 2001, the cathedral's image was displayed on the principal coins struck for a commemorative series of gold and silver currency featuring Orthodox Temples of Transnistria.

  • 2. Transfiguration Cathedral Bender
    The Sacred Heart Cathedral is the name given to a Russian Orthodox church in the Diocese of Tiraspol and Dubossary, Bender, a town controlled by Transnistria, de facto independent territory of Moldova. Its history dates back to 1814 when working on the expansion of local strength. It was built between 1815 and 1820 to constitute a symbol of liberation from Ottoman Turkish rule place. It was consecrated on December 5, 1819. From 1918 to 1944 the parish church belonged to the Romanian Orthodox Church. Since 1948 the cathedral was placed under state protection as a monument of architecture of the early nineteenth century.
