Tuoro sul Trasimeno is a comune in the province of Perugia in the Italian region Umbria, located about 25 km northwest of Perugia. Tuoro sul Trasimeno borders the following municipalities: Castiglione del Lago, Cortona, Lisciano Niccone, Magione, Passignano sul Trasimeno. It is located on the northern shore of the Lake Trasimeno.

Waterfall Attractions In Tuoro sul Trasimeno

1. Cascata delle Marmore Marmore
The Cascata delle Marmore is a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans. Its total height is 165 m , making it the tallest man-made waterfall in the world. Of its 3 sections, the top one is the tallest, at 83 m . It is located 7.7 km from Terni, a provincial capital of the Italian region of Umbria. Its source is a portion of the waters of the river Velino , after flowing through Piediluco lake near the community of Marmore. It pours into the valley below formed by the river Nera. Its flow is turned on and off according to a published schedule, to satisfy the needs of tourists and the power company alike. Tourists try to be there the moment the gates are opened to see the powerful rush of water.

Italy Umbria Castiglione del Lago Lake Trasimeno Trasimenomeer

The 13th century town of Castiglione del Lago is located on Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy. There is a park and beach on the lake where you can relax and swim. The ferry to the islands of Isola Maggiore and Isola Polvese departs from here. It is one of the main towns on the lake. This city is very beautiful restored and there are many boutiques and restaurants. The powerful pentagonal 'Rocca del Leone can be seen on the top of the mountain. This castle was in the 16th century, widely known as an almost impregnable castle. A long dark corridor connects the Palazzo Della Rocca with the Corgna (Palazzo Ducale). This medieval palace of the Baglioni family was in the 16th century and was restored from 1550 to 1643 the residence of the Dukes of Della Corgna.

Het 13de eeuwse stadje Castiglione del Lago ligt aan het Lago Trasimeno, het op drie na grootste meer in Italië. Er is een park en strand aan het meer waar je heerlijk kunt zonnen en zwemmen. De veerboot naar de eilanden Isola Magiore en Isola Polvese vertrekt hier ook vandaan. Het is is één van de belangrijkste steden aan het meer. Deze stad is bijzonder mooi gerestaureerd en er zijn veel boetieks en restaurants. De machtige vijfhoekige Rocca del Leone steekt overal bovenuit. Deze burcht stond in de 16de eeuw overal bekend als een vrijwel onneembaar kasteel. Een lange duistere gang verbindt de Rocca met het Palazzo Della Corgna (Palazzo Ducale). Dit middeleeuwse paleis van de familie Baglioni werd in de 16de eeuw gerestaureerd en was van 1550 tot 1643 de residentie van de hertogen van Della Corgna.

This is a slideshow of our trip to Tuscumbria, Italy, in 2011. We had a very memorable time spending time with family & friends. We also had the opportunity to visit several small towns and eat at some very delicious restaurants.
