Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, at 10,582 square kilometers . It is in the Daniel Campos Province in Potosí in southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes and is at an elevation of 3,656 meters above sea level.The Salar was formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes. It is covered by a few meters of salt crust, which has an extraordinary flatness with the average elevation variations within one meter over the entire area of the Salar.     Tunupa is a dormant volcano in the Potosí Department of southwestern Bolivia. It stands on the northern side of the Salar de Uyuni at an elevation of 5,321 m on the Bolivian Altiplano. Tunupa is a volcano which was active in the Miocene to the Pleistocene. Later glaciers developed on the mountain. There is a cave with several mummies about half way up and an ancient village at the foot with a modest salt hotel.
