Vijfhuizen is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 4 km southeast of Haarlem. In January 2011, the town of Vijfhuizen had 4387 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.48 km², and contained 728 residences. The wider statistical area of Vijfhuizen has a population of around 2800.

Efteling is a fantasy-themed amusement park in Kaatsheuvel in the Netherlands. The attractions are based on elements from ancient myths and legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore. The park was opened on May 31, 1952. It has since evolved from a nature park with a playground and a Fairytale Forest into a full-sized theme park. It now caters to both children and adults with its cultural, romantic, and nostalgic themes, in addition to its wide array of amusement rides. It is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and one of the oldest theme parks in the world. It is twice as large as the original Disneyland park in California and predates it by three years. Defence Line of Amsterdam

The Defence Line of Amsterdam is a system of defense works constructed between 1880 and 1920. It consists of a ring of forts, dams, locks, dykes and ramparts around Amsterdam. It turned the waterways into a weapon under the control of the army and made a military conquest of Amsterdam virtually impossible.
Spijkerboor is the only fort where you can see a turret. During the second world war Spijkerboor actually served as a POW prison (prisoner of war prison), the occupiers having quickly understood that the walls wouldnt give way and that a nail file wouldnt get an inmate very far.
In more recent times an army of volunteers gradually restored the fort. The fort is now in hands of nature protection interests, groups that have here raised the marriage of history and nature to an art form.
Officially designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, this site is to be safeguarded for the future as a testimony to its enduring past.
