Visingsö is an island in the southern half of Lake Vättern in Sweden. Visingsö lies 30 kilometres north of the city Jönköping and 6 kilometres west of Gränna from which two car ferries connect the island. The island is 14 kilometres long and 3 kilometres wide, with a total area of 24 square kilometres . According to legend, a giant named Vist created Visingsö by throwing a lump of soil into the lake so that his wife could use it to step over the lake.

1. Alvastra Monastery Odeshog
Alvastra is a small village in Ödeshög Municipality in eastern Sweden. It is known for being the seat of the Cistercian Alvastra Abbey in the Middle Ages, established in 1143 by French monks. After the Swedish Lutheran reformation in the 1530s, the monastery was demolished, never to be rebuilt. The Alvastra monastery ruin is today well preserved and popular place to visit.

The Rök Runestone is one of the most famous runestones, featuring the longest known runic inscription in stone. It can now be seen beside the church in Rök , Östergötland, Sweden. It is considered the first piece of written Swedish literature and thus it marks the beginning of the history of Swedish literature.
