Wantagh is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County on Long Island, New York, United States. The population of Wantagh was 18,871 at the time of the 2010 census. It is serviced by the Wantagh Station on the Long Island Rail Road. Wantagh is known as The Gateway to Jones Beach.

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site preserves the Springwood estate in Hyde Park, New York. Springwood was the birthplace, lifelong home, and burial place of the 32nd President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The National Historic Site was established in 1945.

Jones Beach State Park is a New York State Park, located in Nassau County, in the hamlet of Wantagh, on Jones Beach Island.

The park is 6.5 miles (10.5 km) in length.

Jones Beach is named after Major Thomas Jones, a major in the Queens County militia in the 1600s who established a whaling station on the outer beach near the site of the present park.

The park was created during Robert Moses' administration as President of the Long Island State Park Commission.

Jones Beach State Park opened to the public on August 4th 1929

Jones Beach State Park is approximately 38 miles from New York City
