Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship or Warmia-Masuria Province or Warmia-Mazury Province , is a voivodeship in northeastern Poland. Its capital and largest city is Olsztyn. The voivodeship has an area of 24,192 km2 and a population of 1,427,091 . The Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship was created on January 1, 1999, from the entire Olsztyn Voivodeship, the western half of Suwałki Voivodeship and part of Elbląg Voivodeship, pursuant to the Polish local government reforms adopted in 1998.     Reszel Castle is a castle located in Reszel by the bank of the river Sajna, in the south-east of the town.The castle, an Ordensburg fortress, was built in between 1350-1401 by the Teutonic Order. The castle was frequently looted, besieged and gained by Polish and Teutonic forces. In the nineteenth century the castle was adapted into a prison, the castle was fully renovated after the Second World War.
