Tangier-Tetouan was formerly one of the sixteen regions of Morocco from 1997 to 2015. It covered an area of 11,570 km² and had a population of 3,157,075. The capital was Tangier. In 2015, it expanded Al Hoceima Province to form the Region of Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima.

    The Caves of Hercules is an archaeological cave complex located in Cape Spartel, Morocco. Situated 14 kilometres west of Tangier, the popular tourist attraction is adjacent to the summer palace of the King of Morocco. The cave has two openings, one to sea and one to land. The sea opening is known as The Map of Africa. It is believed that the Phoenicians created the sea opening which is in the shape of Africa when looked at from the sea. There are also some markings on the wall in the shape of eyes, that are said to be made by the Phoenicians, which make up a map of the local area. The cave itself is part natural and part man-made.     Talassemtane National Park is a national park in the Rif region of Northern Morocco. The 589.5-square-kilometre park was created in October 2004 to conserve the last of Morocco’s threatened fir forests.The park also contains other plant species endemic to the Spanish/Maghrebi biodiversity hotspot such as the endangered Atlas cedar and Andalusian Belladonna Atropa baetica.The Bearded vulture and over 100 other birds have been observed at the park.Talassemtane is part of the Transcontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean. The park's proximity to the popular tourist destination, Chefchaouen makes it a common hiking destination. The park's elevation ranges from 350 meters to 1,050 meters.
