ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Denver Mile High City Capital Tour Colorado
Denver Mile High City Capital Tour Colorado
Denver Colorado has its capital building right in the heart of the city. The dome on the roof is of pure gold.
The brass market on the 13th step leading into the building marks the height of one mile above sea level. Visitors can take a free guided tour.
The Denver Mint building is only one of six locations making coins for circulation, as well as storing gold and silver bullion.
The walls are four and a half feet thick.
50 million coins are minted here every day, and visitors can take a free guided tour. (alas, no samples are given out)
16th Street Mall is a busy commercial street a mile long, right in the heart of the city.
Free buses run continuously all day long in the center of the street, stopping at every block.
Micro breweries, shops and pavement cafes tempt you to linger and appreciate the atmosphere.
Travel south from here along Colorado Boulevard to First Avenue/Cherry Creek Mall for a flavor of 150 great American stores.
Northwards from here along Colorado Boulevard for just a few miles is the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Three floors hold a planetarium, IMAX theatre, and exhibits showing the best of wildlife from the USA, Colorado and the rest of the world.
Visit the Sky Terrace on level three for a great view over the Denver skyline and the Rockies in the background.
Below is the museum park with its boating lake, manicured gardens, walkways and lots of Canadian geese.
Alongside the northern boundary of the museum park is the Denver zoo, home to nearly 4000 animals, an entire rainforest under glass and a replica artic circle with polar bears, penguins and sea lions.

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Ashland, VA, in Central Virginia, is located on the CSX RF&P Subdivision, the former Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad, and is about 15 miles north of Richmond. The town gets over 20 Amtrak passenger trains and 20-25+ CSX freight trains daily. It’s a designated quiet zone, but the crew can use the horns at their discretion. The maximum speed for trains passing through the town's center is 35 miles per hour (MPH).
There are 3 cameras available. The default camera is an Axis 360 located on top of the Visitor’s Center (train station), and 2 static cameras facing North and South on the other side of the intersection. Desktop users can use the suitcase icon at the bottom of the video to toggle between cams. For other devices, you can access the static cams with the links above.
See Tiny Tim’s Trains and Toys Store on the south cam? It's awesome, and worth a visit. Tell Suzanne and crew we said hello!
There is no ATCS layout (and no server coverage) available for the RF&P Sub, as it does not use radio code line (RCL) for switch-and-signal control (RCL is essential for ATCS availability).
There is a radio feed available, listening to the CSX RF&P Sub (BD dispatcher) and Richmond Terminal (FB dispatcher) channels, as well as the Buckingham Branch Railroad's (BBRR) Piedmont Sub channel (which crosses the RF&P Sub at a diamond in Doswell, to the north of Ashland):
A second radio feed providing the Richmond Terminal channel, as well as those for both the North End and Bellwood Subs, can be found here (select the Richmond Area Stream):
When’s the next train? Yeah, we get this a lot. You can figure out the next Amtrak passenger train with this handy link:
There’s no schedule for freight trains, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking.

Camper Van Travel with a Baby - Family Van Life
Andrew, Stacey, and Rowan are a family of 3 who bought a 1999 Volkswagen Vanagon camper van for family adventures. We met up with them at the start of their first month-long adventure around BC and AB Canada when Rowan was just 3 months old.
Andrew and Stacey say they chose a camper van because it was an affordable way for them to travel as a family, and because they couldn't put Rowan on the back of a motorcycle just yet.
With a van, they're able to have water, cooking facilities, a bed, space to stand up, and plenty of storage for the baby's stuff like diapers, blankets, a car seat, etc.
To follow their adventure on Instagram, check them out here:
We filmed this video at the El Campo van gathering in BC, Canada. El Campo van life meet ups are organized by Go-Van and there's one coming up in Quebec, Canada next month. Check them out here:

How to Make $3090 a Month With a Shipping Container House (Airbnb)
Why did I wear a green shirt in front of a big green wall? Because I am a professional! Anyway, if you ever wanted to see a storage container turned in to a little house here you go. They used budget materials, much of it reclaimed. The work was done themselves and the inside decoration is so nice that the slightly 2nd hand look of the outside is just part of the charm. The best part is that this one makes money too!

Fierce Gun Battles Erupt in Mexico's Sinaloa State
▶️Heavily armed gunmen waged an all-out battle against Mexican security forces Thursday, October 17, as soldiers arrested — then reportedly released — a son of jailed drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman in his home state, Sinaloa.
????Security Minister Alfonso Durazo said soldiers on a routine afternoon patrol came under fire from a residence in the state capital, Culiacan.
He said they responded by taking the house and detaining four people inside, including Ovidio Guzman, one of several sons of “El Chapo” who have partly taken over the Sinaloa cartel since he was extradited to the United States in 2017.
Cartel gunmen then “surrounded the house, outnumbering the soldiers,” and began a massive assault on various parts of the city, Durazo said.
“El Chapo,” 62, was sentenced to life in prison in July for trafficking hundreds of tons of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana into the United States over the course of a quarter-century.
After being convicted in a New York court, “El Chapo” is now serving a life sentence in the notorious ADX federal maximum security prison in Colorado. (VOA)

Surviving Columbus (Parts 1 and 2)
Late one afternoon in May 1539, the world of the Pueblo Indians changed forever when Estebanico - a Black slave from Morocco - and his 300 retinue of Mexican Indians marched into the Zuni city of Hawikuh. Through wild tales and exaggerations, Hawikuh would be transformed into one of the fabled Seven Golden Cities of Cibola, and a year later, Coronado and his soldiers would wreak destruction and violence on this peaceful world in search of non existent gold. Surviving Columbus is a search for the Pueblo people's view of these first encounters with European civilization, told exclusively through the voices and visions of the Pueblo Indians.

Van Life - Couple Saves $18,000 a Year by Living in a Camper Van
Thank you to Squarespace for sponsoring this video :) to get 10% off your first purchase
Tyler & Sarah from Life vs Art ( are a couple living the off grid van life full-time in Vancouver, BC, Canada. A couple of years ago they realized they were spending close to $18,000 per year on rent, and with such a mild climate in Vancouver, they realized they could live in a camper van and save that money to live life the way they wanted to.
They live in the van with two sweet dogs, who spend weekdays at work with Tyler so they aren't left alone in the van.
They're basically living off-grid and rent free in the middle of the city with a propane Dickinson fireplace heater, water jugs they fill up at work, solar power for electricity, and a small portable toilet.
Tyler plays drums for the Magik Spells, and Sarah is the drummer for Nixie. The one thing they miss after having downsized their belongings is an electronic drum kit they used to have set up in their living room. Now they store their music instruments at the studio where they have band practice.
We really enjoyed meeting Sarah & Tyler this summer and were so inspired by how easily they make full-time van dwelling work for them.
Here are some links to their projects if you want to check them out:

STORYLINE
Rescue operations continued on Tuesday as authorities tried to locate seven missing US tourists, two days after their boat capsized off the coast of Mexico.
At least one American tourist, besides the seven missing, has been confirmed dead and identified by Mexican officials as Leslie Yee of Ceres, California.
On Tuesday, the shipmates who survived the wreck anxiously awaited word as the Mexican navy and the US Coast Guard expanded their search in the Gulf of California, holding out hope that the missing were able to survive in the gulf's balmy waters.
One Mexican navy captain said they were increasing resources and moving their search area south of Gonzaga bay, a coastal town south of the port of San Felipe where efforts concentrated Monday.
Rescue teams were also coordinating efforts with officials across the gulf in the northern state of Sonora because shipwreck survivors in the region sometimes are swept far away by fast tides.
Steven Kashkett, from the United States consul to Tijuana, said during a meeting in San Felipe that both governments were working together to coordinate the rescue efforts, a sentiment echoed by Jose Guadalupe Osuna, the Governor of Baja California.
One of the survivors, Gary Wong, said he still held out hope that the rescuers would find his brother Brian and added that he planned to stay until all the missing were found.
A local TV station in California erroneously reported earlier that Brian Wong, who works in personnel for Alameda County and has two grown daughters, was among the dead, leaving the family to calm his frantic wife.
A sudden storm struck early Sunday, capsizing the 115-foot (35-metre) vessel, the Erik. The crew and the fishermen clung to coolers, rescue rings and life vests for more than 16 hours.
The navy and other fishing boats plucked 19 fishermen and all 16 crew members from the water late Sunday.
The vessel sank about 60 miles (100 kilometres) south of San Felipe.
Sunday was the second day of a week long fishing trip the group had organised for several years each Independence Day holiday.
The search was expanded to a wider area and continued with helicopters and aircraft.
Around 60 hours have passed since the accident.
