Northern New Mexico Carvers at the Harwood
Noted santero Gustavo Victor Goler discusses the exhibition of Northern New Mexican carvers that he is guest curating at The Harwood Museum of Art March 16 through May 20, 2007.
The exhibit explores how the centuries-old New Mexican tradition of carving wooden sculptures has evolved from its historical, religious roots to contemporary expressions.

NM-94 South from Mora, NM to Ledoux, NM
[Filmed on March 16, 2013.]
The numbering system of state routes is different. Even though it has an even number, the road runs north to south. Roads that run north/south are usually given an odd number. This road roughly parallels the main road, NM-518, between Mora and Las Vegas, NM. The road is not used much because of the steep grade exiting the Mora Valley and the narrow road.

NM-94 North - Ledoux, NM to Mora, NM
[Filmed on March 16, 2013. Edited using Adobe Premiere Elements 11.]
This is NM-94 north from the small town of Ledoux, NM to Mora. In this video you will see how steep the hill into the Mora valley is. We had to switch our vehicle to a low gear, so it would not strain the brakes. My dad said that when he used to bike down this hill, he would go around 30-40 MPH. After you get into the Mora valley, the road quickly narrows to maybe a total of 17-22 feet wide. A normal interstate lane would be about as wide as this whole road is in some parts.

La Casita - 1 Bedroom / 1 Bathroom
Taos Town, Taos New Mexico
La Casita, nestled near most popular happening in “The Town of Taos” which is one quarter block from “Plaza”.
Located on a quiet private one way street only ¼ block from the heart beat of town which is the “Taos Plaza”. Walk to town in less than 5 minutes. Lined with shops, restaurants, galleries and more, the Plaza is also where outdoor entertainment and public events take place.
During summer months, locals and visitors look forward to gathering Thursday’s late day / early evening for live “Music on the Plaza” including dancing and festivities. During winter holidays, the Plaza is alive with holiday décor, music, gatherings and the ever popular “Lighting of Ledoux Street” with galleries, artist studios and the famous Harwood Museum announcing the beginning of Christmas / New Year holidays. which is populated. La Casita is one very short block from Ledoux Street. One block from Kit Carson Road & Main Street (named Paseo del Pueblo Sur) and Bent Street with more shops and galleries and eateries. All of this and more are available with a 5 or 10 minute walk.
When you simply want to chill and pretend you live in Taos, stay home and relax by the historic wood burning kiva fireplace and enjoy this absolutely charming historic “La Casita”. Read a book or watch either of the two HD flat screen DirecTV’s (one in the living room and one in the bedroom).
Like the rest of the casita, the kitchen is furnished with upscale everything, including stainless steel fridge and stove, upscale pots, pans and dinnerware. Much of the furniture was designed special for La Casita and handcrafted by a local Taos woodworker.
The interior of the casita is pretty much “sound proof from the world” due to the thick historic adobe walls. These same sound proof walls insulate year round, keeping the casita cool during summer and warm during winter. The memory foam Queen bed is luxuriously comfortable and dressed with upscale linens, pillows and topper. The state of the art sleeper sofa is an “American Leather Comfort Sofa” touted by many guests over the last 10 years as, “The best night’s sleep ever” and “way better than most beds”.
To experience Taos fully, one must spend time in the heart of the city. Lodging at “La Casita” provides guests the opportunity to enjoy all of this with ease and off street parking. You will feel like you live on “The Square” but are buffered with privacy and solitude when you walk through the front door. Enjoy lodging at La Casita and you will tell your friends and family they have to come and do the same…..

Town Of Taos Public Forum on Downtown Improvements and Activities
Public Forum on Downtown Improvements and Activities
The Town of Taos held a public forum on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Town Council Chambers located at 120 Civic Plaza Drive. The forum was for downtown businesses, residents and property owners regarding the following important issues:
DOWNTOWN FALL PAVING PROJECTS
The Town has allocated nearly $1,000,000 for the resurfacing and correction of utility and drainage problems on the Plaza, all Plaza entry roads, all of Civic Plaza Drive, all of Bent Street and the southern half of Camino de la Placita from Town Hall Drive to Paseo.
The Town will provide information on this work and is seeking input from businesses on the establishing the timing and timetable for this work, expected to take place in the second half of October.
DOWNTOWN WINTER HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
The Town is exploring ideas for improving and coordinating winter downtown holiday events during December 2015, including working with “Lighting of Ledoux”, “Bonfires on Bent Street”, the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, Dunn Shoppes and other businesses to create a more festive holiday experience for residents, attract increased tourism and increase sales of downtown merchants during the holiday season.
The ideas include a winter holiday market, a downtown lighting/decorating contest, increased public lighting and banners and special events.
The Town is looking to meet, coordinate and work with merchants and the coordinators/sponsors of both historical annual or planned events, as well as is seeking ideas from the public.
HISTORIC DISTRICT SIGNAGE AND LIGHTING
The Town is revisiting both its current lighting and signage ordinances, as well as their enforcement, and is seeking input on changes that may need to be made to make the District more “business friendly”, while preserving the historic character of the downtown.
The Town will also announce the beginning of a fall enforcement campaign against signage or lighting that violates the code and is either illegally on the public right-of-way, creates a hazard and/or public safety issue, has not received required Town approval, or which is clearly not permitted in any area without prior approval (such as advertising vinyl banners).
The Town is seeking public input from merchants and Historic District residents/property owners on such issues as neon or digital “open” signs, “sandwich board” or “A-frame” sidewalk signs, public sidewalk “sculpture” and other popular but not permitted forms of advertising before beginning enforcement and recommending any code changes.

New Mexico Summer 2013 Road Trip - Part 2
[Filmed on June 16, 2013. Edited with Adobe Premiere Elements 12.]
Technical Specs: Rendering Time - 30 mins.; File Size - 4.04GB; Time to upload - 50 minutes.
Here is the return trip from Mora, New Mexico. This video is now the second longest video I have ever made, clocking in at just under 47 minutes. Anyways, this return trip is pretty interesting. You get a longer drive through Mora at the beginning of the video and short updates at the end. Some parts are sped up 6-8x to save time (mostly long, boring stretches of interstate).
