MOST GORGEOUS National Park Yet | Mt Rainier | Lodgepole Campground
After two days in Seattle, we were ready to get back to the mountains - specifically, Mt. Rainier National Park! We didn't really have any expectations for Mt. Rainier - we just knew it was a must-see when in the state of Washington. However, we were completely BLOWN away! This was an absolutely stunning park - there really is nothing else like it. Washington itself completely won us over and became one of our favorite states yet.
We camped at Lodgepole Campground which was part of the national forest. It was a really nice campground with many pull-thru, paved sites but with no hook-ups. It was also very far from any cell reception - at least 45 minutes into the nearest town. It was perfect for being off the grid, however, and a great location to visit the National Park.

Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier National Park is a United States National Park located in southeast Pierce County and northeast Lewis County in Washington state. It was established on March 2, 1899 as the fifth national park in the United States.
Pleasant Valley Campground, Wenatchee National Forest, Washington Campsite Photos
The campground stretches out in two sections along the American River in a stand of mixed conifers including White and Douglas fir. There is a grass and wildflower meadow at the east end of campground. The campground is close enough to State Rt. 410 for an overnight stop but it's tranquil atmosphere beckons visitors to stay longer. Traffic noise is minimal. Privacy is good. See the huge red ant hills along the Pleasant Valley Nature Trail -advise against taking dogs on the trail.

Mt. Rainier National Park - Paradise and Narada Falls
Wanting to escape the summer heat and smoky haze from the BC wildfires, on a whim we decided to drive up to Mt. Rainier National Park and camp for the night. Upon reaching the Paradise summit at 5,420' elevation, there was indeed less smoke from the fires, but even here the temperature was in the upper 80's, and it was very humid. Cougar Rock Campground, at 3,200' elevation where we tented for the night was uncomfortably hot, with the daytime temperature near 90! After we set up our tent, we discovered that in our haste we forgot to bring sleeping bags! So, we improvised. A moving blanket that we had stowed in our car kept us cozy for the night on top of our inflatable mattress. As you can see from this video, the scenery was amazing and our brief escape to Mt. Rainier National Park was well worth it!

Exploring Tallest Mountain In Washington, Mount Rainier
Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning six major rivers. Subalpine wildflower meadows ring the icy volcano while ancient forest cloaks Mount Rainier’s lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the park’s ecosystems. A lifetime of discovery awaits.
Mount Rainier has five developed areas: Longmire, Paradise, Ohanapecosh, Sunrise, and Carbon/Mowich. Although the level of development in these areas ranges from basic -little more than a campground and picnic area- to extensive -hotel, restaurant, visitor center, campgrounds and picnic areas- each can serve as a base for exploring the rest of the park. Learn more about each of these areas.
About 5,600 years ago the summit and northeast face of Mount Rainier fell away in a massive landslide accompanied by volcanic explosions. The Osceola Mudflow, a towering wall of mud and rock, thundered down the White River Valley where it deposited 600' of debris eventually reaching the Puget Sound.

I believe MT Rainier is 5th or 6th tallest Mountain in USA. Definitely tallest in State of Washington if not the whole North West.

RV Travel Life | Our Review of Cascade Peaks Family Campground
In today’s episode, I show you our current RV park, Cascade Peaks Family Campground. It’s located in Randle, WA in between Mount Rainer and Mount St. Helens. We chose to stay here for our last week of freedom before we turn our fifth wheel in to Camping World for the summer. This campground is an old 1000 trails location. I’m not sure when it was built, but it’s still pretty nice. They have over 400 campsites, 120 with full hookups, and 280 with power and water.
The week we stayed was in early June, not yet tourist season. As such, we only had to pay $150 for a week with full hookups and 50 amp. In a strange twist, I was told to drive out and pick my own site. We’ve never stayed at a campground or RV park where we could pick our own site, it was kind of nice.
