Lime Creek Road, Durango to Silverton, Colorado
Traveling the old miners' road between Silverton and Durango, Colorado.
BACK on the ROAD! || SW Colorado Boondocking || Lime Creek Rd.
Hey guys! In this week's video we share a brief stay at a pretty picturesque spot in the San Juan National Forest, about 40 minutes north of Durango, Colorado. This is wild camping with a 14-day stay limit and Leave No Trace principles in effect.
There are nearby hiking trails, lakes, and the lovely Cascade Creek. This spot is a bit buggy so be aware of that!
This area is close to all kinds of things to do in Durango to the south and Silverton to the north (more of that next week!)

Lime Creek Road - not incident-free
Early morning run to LCR the other day…
I haven't done this run often, maybe two or three times in each direction over the last fours years, so I'm not exactly confident on this tricky road…which is why you see me taking it easy and backing off a lot…
I'm trying to break in my A* suit and my Daytona didn't start up, so I took the Rocket…
I scraped the pegs for the first time and it took me by surprise (some of you may have seen the wear on my tyres on Instagram/evo.moto to know that it can usually corner pretty well)…This is why I always know what's going on around me, and look as far down the road as possible, so I can react… It ended up being a non-event but could've been bad had there been more cars around.
Rowan (a relatively new rider) encounters Target Fixation for the first time and goes off too, a lowside for her…hopefully that's got her wreck out of the way! Massive props for her shaking it off and carrying on…carefully but spirited!
The riders:
Cory on the BMW S100RR
Olaf on the Honda CBR1000RR
Rowan on the Honda 599
and me on the Triumph Rocket III Roadster.
…and the guy doing laps back and forth, that's an R6 with the side fairings off.

The Town of Superior, Colorado
The Town of Superior Colorado was not much more than farmland in the 90's with less than 250 residents, but now this hip little town has grown to over 10,794 residents and the numbers are expected to grow over the next several years. Superior Colorado is nestled in the hills just outside of Boulder and is home to more than 540 acres of parks, open spaces, and trails. This community boasts gorgeous views all around and offers residents a huge variety of living options and styles. With a great school system, a chic shopping district, and a thriving local economy, it's no wonder Superior Colorado is such a popular place to buy a home.

This was a wonderful trail for nature lovers like our family. This is not the usual hike that we do as a family but I was so surprise on how me and my son liked it. It was so peaceful.
If you will notice I didn't do my introduction at the beginning of our day because my husband pissed me off that morning. LOL But walking in that trail made me calm and I didn't even notice that I'm way ahead of my boys because I'm enjoying it so much.
We even found a spot where we can camp maybe before summer ends or during fall season. But for me, the weather when we hiked it was already perfect for camping. We will definitely go back there to see the 5 falls because we just hiked up to the second falls. My son cannot continue with the hike anymore and was complaining and we don't want him to cry. LOL
We finished the trail with a record of almost 19km (11 mi) on our Garmin watch. Overall, it was a wonderful day hike with lots of beautiful scenery. Enjoy the hike! :)

Durango, Colorado. Engineer Trail. Wild Flowers.
Our lay over in Durango, Colorado was a picture perfect experience. The highlight was a walk up to Engineer Peak to the meadows of wild flowers. This hike is not a long one. Maybe four miles or so, but the pay off is huge when the flowers are in bloom. If visiting the Durango area this is one place to put high on the list of must see.
Special thanks to our good friends Perry and Leah for showing us their backyard.

US Highway 160 - Mancost - Hesperus - Colorado | Drive America's Highways ????
???? Drive America's Highways for 16 miles east along the San Juan Skyway and the Navajo Trail (US-160) from State Highway 184 in Mancos to State Route 140 in Hesperus, Colorado ⛰️
The San Juan Skyway is an All-American Road and a component in the Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway System. It forms a 233.0-mile (375.0 km) loop in the southwest part of the U.S. state of Colorado traversing the heart of the San Juan Mountains. It roughly parallels the routes of the narrow gauge railways: Rio Grande Southern (US 160, SH 145 and SH 62); and the unconnected Ouray and Silverton Branches of the Denver & Rio Grande along US 550 with the Silverton Railroad bridging a part of the gap. Its origin can be traced to the Around the Circle Route promoted by the D&RG. --Wikipedia

Moki Dugway by Car
In this video I take you down the Moki Dugway and on into Mexican Hat and the bridge over the San Juan river. This video was shot using a Panasonic GH-2 camera using a 7-14mm lens at 7mm. The Camera was mounted to a magnetic mount that was placed on top of the roof of the car so you don't get reflections off the windshield as you would if the camera was inside the car.
The Moki Dugway was built in 1957/1958 in order to facilitate the transport of Uranium ore from the mine at Fry Canyon to the processing plant south of Mexican Hat. The trucks carrying ore from the mine would then descend the Moki Dugway and one can only imagine how much fun that must have been in the winter, with snow, driving a heavy truck with bad brakes.
This region of the country is predominately Native American (American Indian) and has been for a very long time. Above the Dugway and along the canyons not far from the top are many ancient dwellings built into the side of the canyons. The Ancestral Puebloans that lived here and disappeared from there dwellings about 900 years ago left not only there rock and wood dwellings but many works of art scratched into the desert varnish that color the sandstone throughout the region. These dwellings are very much the same as those found a Mesa Verde in SW Colorado -- just a hundred mile away.
Mexican Hat makes a great base to explore the west as you are within a short drive of: Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods, the Moki Dugway, Natural Bridges, Gooseneck State Park, the Four Corners region, Canyon De Chelly, and the Glen Canyon Recreation Area. A bit further drive takes you to Moab and the national parks of Arches and Canyonlands. Heading further west and you have Capitol Reef NP, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Bryce Canyon NP, Zion NP. Less than a day and you're at the Grand Canyon.
Please check out some of my other videos from this area including drone videos in 4K of Mexican Hat, the Valley of the Gods, and the Moki Dugway. And feel free to check out my other videos on my channel. See links...
