Boston Pops on Tour—Holiday Pops will be at State Theatre New Jersey December 2, 2018
best-known, most recorded, and arguably most popular orchestra in the United States.—The New York Times
Join the Boston Pops on Tour and Conductor Keith Lockhart for their sparkling and beloved Holiday Pops concert!
Affectionately known as “America’s Orchestra,” the Boston Pops has a long history beginning with the establishment of the modern-era Pops by Arthur Fiedler and continuing through the innovations introduced by John Williams and the new-millennium Pops spearheaded by Keith Lockhart. In 2010, the Pops celebrated its 125th anniversary season.
Having recently celebrated his 22nd anniversary as Boston Pops Conductor in 2017, Keith Lockhart is the second longest-tenured conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra since its founding in 1885.

Crossroads Of America
United States Highway Route 1 starts in Key West (Florida), goes through every major city along the East Coast, and terminates at the Canadian border in Maine. United States Highway Route 30 starts at the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey, crosses the country as the Lincoln Highway (for the most part), and ends in Oregon at the Pacific Ocean. These two cross-country highways intersect at the western-most edge of Philadelphia. This movie was taken at this intersection -- a true crossroads of America.
Some day I would love to start at the end of either one of these roads, slowly drive to the other end, and take photographs all along the way.

Full House Caps Off Shen Yun's 2012 Season in New Jersey
Shen Yun Performing Arts held its final show of the 2012 season to a packed house on Saturday, October 27.
Audience members at the New Jersey State Theater in New Brunswick were excited by Shen Yun's display of classical Chinese dance and music.
[Lorrie Nadeau, Software Developer]:
Oh, it's just fabulous, the orchestra is fantastic, the dancers and the colorful costumes, it's just a combination for all the senses, just fabulous.
[Irine Nachem, East Brunswick Resident]:
This is the first time that I've seen this before and I'm enjoying it very much. I hope it continues on, I know it will continue on for a long time.
Shen Yun's performances include classical Chinese and ethnic dances, as well as story-based pieces drawing from China's past and present. The show is accompanied by a live orchestra that combines traditional western orchestration with ancient Chinese instruments.
[Jamie Probber, Attorney]:
I'm very much enjoying the music...I studied a lot of different music a long time ago and I'm enjoying the mix of the Eastern and the Western. And the instrumentation as well is very interesting.
[Marlin, Audience]:
I think this show is fantastic, I think that the artistry, the way the movement is displayed, with the type of material that's involved, silk. The history of the tales, I think it's phenomenal, it's quite outstanding.
Shen Yun's 2013 world tour will start with shows in Buenos Aries, Argentina on December 13th.

New Jersey is the Diner Capital of the U.S. - NYC Dining Spotlight, Episode 8
In the state of New Jersey, diners are more than just a place to grab a breakfast sandwich or a late night cup of coffee. Often the center of the community, diners built in the 1920's are still beloved by their guests despite modern restaurants filling up Main Street. Zagat editor Billy Lyons visited three diners in the Garden State to find out why this style of dining and cuisine continues to thrive - not to mention investigate a fun food debate.

Jacque Rubel
Born in Canada, Jacque Rubel moved to New Brunswick when she got married and became a key figure in the development of the arts. Early on, Rubel got involved in arts-related programs for youth in Griggstown. When the State Arts Council was forming, she established the New Jersey State Teen Arts Program. Working with Bernie Busch, the longtime director of the Historical Commission, and Byron Kelly, Rubel helped found the County Cultural Heritage Commissions and served as one of the first commissioners of the Middlesex County Cultural Heritage Commission. In the interview, Rubel discusses how she and others envisioned New Brunswick as a cultural center. Over the years, she helped establish Opera Works, a non-profit organization, and organized workshops and conferences, including “Arts Come of Age” in conjunction with Rutgers. Rubel describes tensions surrounding the development of the George Street Playhouse and the creative commitment of those who ran the Crossroads Theater. She also discusses key figures in redevelopment, the role Rutgers played and missed opportunities. Rubel currently heads the Aging in Place Partnership.
