Dr. Randall George Nozawa & Jeannette Twitty The House of Matthew
Jeannette Twitty - CEO of The House of Matthew
Cornell and Jeannette Twitty have been spiritual bound residents of Washington for a combined 30 years. As parents of 3 beautiful adult daughters and one son, Cornell and Jeannette have had the chance to understand the mistakes made throughout daily living decisions. Those experiences have led to establishing a place for second chances, now established as The House of Matthew Permanent & Supportive Housing.
During this time, they have both dedicated their time and service serving our Pierce County communities as Foster Parents of at-risk youth, veterans affairs at Tacoma’s local Veteran Hospital, and active members of the Tacoma Community College Foreign Exchange Program, hosting foreign exchange students attending Tacoma Community College to extend their education in the United States.
Cornell and Jeannette are happy to be apart of the nonprofit community as parents, established adult mentors, and residents. They look forward to making second chances happen, see barriers overcome and lives carry on successfully.
We also would like to learn and engage in more services, so anyone willing to offer helpful resources, we would love to speak to you directly.
Thank You! ”

How We Got Here: A Reckoning with U.S. and Tacoma history
The video investigates how the U.S. and Tacoma region were shaped by racist laws, policies and discriminatory practices and argues these systems can only be dismantled through strategies of recognition, restitution, reconciliation and a sustained commitment to equity.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
Tacoma ( tə-KOH-mə) is a midsized urban port city and the county seat of Pierce County, Washington, United States. The city is on Washington's Puget Sound, 32 miles (51 km) southwest of Seattle (of which it is the largest satellite city), 31 miles (50 km) northeast of the state capital, Olympia, and 58 miles (93 km) northwest of Mount Rainier National Park. The population was 198,397, according to the 2010 census. Tacoma is the second-largest city in the Puget Sound area and the third-largest in the state. Tacoma also serves as the center of business activity for the South Sound region, which has a population around 1 million.
Tacoma adopted its name after the nearby Mount Rainier, originally called Takhoma or Tahoma. It is locally known as the City of Destiny because the area was chosen to be the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the late 19th century. The decision of the railroad was influenced by Tacoma's neighboring deep-water harbor, Commencement Bay. By connecting the bay with the railroad, Tacoma's motto became When rails meet sails. Commencement Bay serves the Port of Tacoma, a center of international trade on the Pacific Coast and Washington's largest port.
Like most industrial cities, Tacoma suffered a prolonged decline in the mid-20th century as a result of suburbanization and divestment. Since the 1990s, developments in the downtown core include the University of Washington Tacoma; Tacoma Link, the first modern electric light rail service in the state; the state's highest density of art and history museums; and a restored urban waterfront, the Thea Foss Waterway.
Tacoma has been named one of the most livable areas in the United States. In 2006, Tacoma was listed as one of the most walkable cities in the country. That same year, the women's magazine Self named Tacoma the Most Sexually Healthy City in the United States.Tacoma gained notoriety in 1940 for the collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, which earned the nickname Galloping Gertie.

Driving Downtown - Seattle 4K - USA
Driving Downtown - Seattle Washington USA - Season 1 Episode 17.
Starting Point: Pine St .
Seattle is a West Coast seaport city and the seat of King County. With an estimated 662,400 residents as of 2015,[2] Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America, and, as of July 2013, is the fastest-growing major city in the United States.[6] The Seattle metropolitan area of around 3.6 million inhabitants is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States.[7] The city is situated on a narrow isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the 8th largest port in the United States and 9th largest in North America in terms of container handling.[8]
The Seattle area was previously inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers.[9] Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851.[10] The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named Seattle in 1852, after Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.
Logging was Seattle's first major industry, but by the late 19th century the city had become a commercial and shipbuilding center as a gateway to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. By 1910, Seattle was one of the 25 largest cities in the country.[11] However, the Great Depression severely damaged the city's economy. Growth returned during and after World War II, due partially to the local Boeing company, which established Seattle as a center for aircraft manufacturing. The Seattle area developed as a technology center beginning in the 1980s, with companies like Microsoft becoming established in the region. In 1994 the Internet retail giant Amazon was founded in Seattle. The stream of new software, biotechnology, and Internet companies led to an economic revival, which increased the city's population by almost 50,000 between 1990 and 2000.
Seattle has a noteworthy musical history. From 1918 to 1951, there were nearly two dozen jazz nightclubs along Jackson Street, from the current Chinatown/International District, to the Central District. The jazz scene developed the early careers of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson and others. Seattle is also the birthplace of rock musician Jimi Hendrix and the alternative rock style grunge.[12]

David Douglas and the Landscape of the Pacific Northwest - 11/9/12
Author Jack Nisbet presented David Douglas and the Landscape of the Pacific Northwest as part of Western Washington University's Huxley College of the Environment Speaker Series at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 in CF 125 on the Western campus.
Between 1825-33, Scottish naturalist David Douglas traveled with Hudson's Bay Company fur men throughout their Columbia and New Caledonia Districts, actively interacting with the flora, fauna, and families that lived there. This slide presentation will focus on what ideas Douglas's journals, letters, scientific specimens, taxonomy, artwork, and oral legacy can offer to understanding the place where we live today.
Spokane-based teacher and writer Jack Nisbet's books include Visible Bones, Purple Flat Top, Sources of the River, and The Mapmaker's Eye. The Collector, his biography of David Douglas, was named as one of the Pacific Northwest Bookseller's Association's 2010 Books of the Year. His latest title, David Douglas: A Naturalist at Work, is an illustrated collection of essays that both provide context for Douglas's journeys and relate his work to the modern landscape. It serves as the companion book for a museum exhibit of the same name that is now open at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane.
The exhibit will travel to the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma in Fall 2013.
The speaker series is held by Western's Huxley College of the Environment to bring together the environmentally minded community and other interested members of the WWU and Bellingham communities. Speakers address topics of contemporary environmental concern in the region and the world.
For more information, please contact the main office of Huxley College of the Environment, at (360) 650-3520.

AMAZING, VINTAGE 1970 Westinghouse Selectomatic Traction Elevators at 1201 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA
Filmed March 25th, 2018.
HAPPY 25 YEARS OF ELEVATOR PHOTOGRAPHY FOLKS!!!! That's right, 25 years ago today, Andrew Reams aka Dieselducy filmed his first elevator video at The Hilton Hotel in Atlanta, GA!!! Since the first elevator he filmed was indeed a Westinghouse Selectomatic system, I figured this would be appropriate to upload today. Anyways, here is the first video of those elevators he ever shot: and if you're interested in seeing a more recent take, here is my video of those famous elevators from 2016:
Anyways, about these elevators, they are TRULY AMAZING, and considering this is a Class A office building, I was AMAZED by how friendly everyone here was about me filming, and also, I'm VERY AMAZED AND SHOCKED, yet VERY HAPPY and have to give HUGE PROPS to this place for keeping this AMAZING SYSTEM original for this long in a building like this!!!! Installed 48 years ago, almost completely original, and run like they were Installed TODAY!!! The call stations were replaced with EPCO Inchline, and the cabs were redone at some point, but otherwise, Completely Original Westinghouse Selectomatic Elevator System with it's original AE fixtures, motors, controllers, and DINNER BELLS from 1970!!!! The fixtures are also in EXCELLENT CONDITION, along with the system as a whole!!!! A lady in the video said she got stuck in one of these, which I do find hard to believe as all of the elevators were working and running strong when I shot this, and they literally are just in AMAZING SHAPE!!!! In this video, I ride both the High Rise Bank from 14-22 and The Underground Parking Elevator, both of which are COMPLETELY ORIGINAL, Original Fixtures and EPIC DINNER BELLS!!! This what I call REAL ELEVATORS, located in Tacoma's TALLEST BUILDING!!! Also, one of the COPs in each of the cars was lowered for ADA Compliance. That being said, THIS IS PERFECT ADA Compliance and how you make an elevator ADA Compliant without RUINING it!!!!! This place used to be the Wells Fargo Plaza. With that being said, let's now ride these AMAZING Elevators, and hopefully they NEVER get modernized!!! That said, enjoy the video!!!
Installed: 1970
