Driving Downtown - Portland Oregon USA - Season 1 Episode 16.
Starting Point: Broadway .
Portland is the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the county seat of Multnomah County. It is located in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. The city covers 145 square miles (376 km²) and had an estimated population of 619,360 in 2014,[7][9] making it the 28th most populous city in the United States. Approximately 2,348,247 people live in the Portland metropolitan statistical area (MSA), the 24th most populous MSA in the United States. Its Combined Statistical Area (CSA) ranks 17th with a population of 3,022,178.
Named after the city in Maine, Portland was settled in the 1840s near the end of the Oregon Trail. Its water access provided convenient transportation of goods, and the timber industry was a major force in the city's early economy. At the turn of the 20th century, the city had developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous port cities in the world, a hub for organized crime and racketeering. After the city's economy experienced an industrial boom during World War II, its hard-edged reputation began to dissipate. Beginning in the 1960s,[10] Portland became noted for its growing liberal political values, and the city has earned a reputation as a bastion of counterculture which has proceeded into the 21st century.[11] According to a 2009 Pew Research Center study, Portland ranks as the 8th most popular American city, based on where people want to live.[12]
The city operates with a commission-based government guided by a mayor and four commissioners as well as Metro, the only directly elected metropolitan planning organization in the United States.[13] The city government is notable for its land-use planning and investment in public transportation.[14] Portland is frequently recognized as one of the most environmentally conscious cities in the world because of its high walkability, large community of bicyclists, farm-to-table dining, expansive network of public transportation options, and 10,000+ acres of public parks.[15] Its climate is marked by warm, dry summers and chilly, rainy winters. This climate is ideal for growing roses, and Portland has been called the City of Roses for over a century.[16][17] Keep Portland Weird is an unofficial slogan for the city.[18]
Mt. Hoop Loop Tour - Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area
We were fortunate to go on a few great day tours while recently visiting Portland. In this video, we show footage from our Mt. Hoop Loop tour, which spent much of the day sightseeing around the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. We stopped and stop many spectacular waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls. We also made a stop at the Vista House, which just has amazing views! I didn't realize until our trip that this area of Oregon has more waterfalls than anywhere in the world! Such a beautiful area! I can't wait to go back! By the way, our tour company was America's Hub World Tours, and we had two absolutely wonderful guides on both days! They were so much fun, knowledgeable about the area, and passionate about the sites they were showing us! I highly recommend this tour company!
Beer in Portland, USA
Drink beer in Portland with Macca and Brianna as they visit some of the best breweries in the city.
With an amazing craft beer scene and over 70 different places to choose from it's no wonder Portland has become one of the major states to visit for beer lovers.
After trying out a few (okay, a fair few) glasses of the amber nectar ourselves we can see why so many people love drinking beer in Portland, and these places were without a doubt some of the best breweries we've ever been to, and that's saying something!
If you enjoyed us drinking beer in Portland, check out A Brit and a Broad to see what else we go up to while we were there - - and subscribe for more videos like this one -

Portland, Oregon, is without a doubt one of the hippest cities in the United States.
With a highly active art scene, more craft breweries than you'll know what to do with, and some freakin' weird things to see and do, Portland is one of the hottest places to be in right now. Add in those chilled vibes of the Pacific Northwest and it's become a hipsters haven and a desirable destination for tourists, so we just had to see it out for ourselves.
In this episode we check out some of the best breweries in Portland, and with over 70 different breweries to choose from that's no mean feat!
You can’t come to Portland without checking out Deschutes Brewery though. This beer is famous throughout the States, so this was our first port of call.
Next up was Ecliptic Brewing where they’re creating some of the most interesting beers we’ve had in a very long time (including a beer aged in an old bourbon barrel!)
And finally, we finished off at Migration Brewing for a flight of nine different beers and to kick back and watch some sport. It really doesn’t come much more American than this one!
If you’re someone who loves a sip or two of the old fashioned ale, make sure you get yourself over to Portland to try out what they’re doing. You certainly won’t be disappointed!

Downtown Seattle
Downtown is the central business district of Seattle, Washington. It is fairly compact compared with other city centers on the West Coast of the United States because of its geographical situation. It is hemmed in on the north and east by hills, on the west by Elliott Bay, and on the south by reclaimed land that was once tidal flats. It is bounded on the north by Denny Way, beyond which are Lower Queen Anne (sometimes known as Uptown), Seattle Center, and South Lake Union; on the east by Interstate 5, beyond which is Capitol Hill to the northeast and the Central District to the east; on the south by S Dearborn Street, beyond which is Sodo; and on the west by Elliott Bay, which is part of Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean).
Belltown, Denny Triangle, the retail district, the West Edge, the financial district, the government district, Pioneer Square, Chinatown, Japantown, Little Saigon, and the western flank of First Hill west of Broadway make up downtown Seattle's chief neighborhoods. Near the center of downtown is the Metropolitan Tract which is owned by the University of Washington; prior to 1895 it served as the location of the university's campus. Downtown is Seattle's finance and commercial maritime hub as well as its center of nightlife and shopping. The downtown shopping mall Westlake Center is connected to Seattle Center by way of a monorail.

Interpreting Services Video | Certified Languages International | Portland, Oregon
Certified Languages International (CLI) is a full-service language company specializing in and With a growing list of over 200 languages, CLI is among the largest providers of telephone interpreting in the world, servicing North America and abroad.
Our professional, U.S.-based telephone interpreters are skilled in industry-specific terminology and available 24/7/365. CLI is committed to helping businesses increase revenues and maximize the value of their non-English speaking customer relationships, which we achieve by investing in innovative technology to deliver language translation services with unmatched efficiency and accuracy.
In creating this video, we aimed to showcase Certified Languages' commitment to embracing language diversity and breaking down communications barriers across cultures.
As you'll see from our new video, this isn't your typical corporate advertisement. In CLI's short, 80-second video, we took a route that was more conceptual to portray the significance of communication through professional interpreters and translators, and to represent CLI's unique qualities.
To convey the importance of connecting across languages and cultures, we selected 5 words that are renowned for being incredibly difficult to translate from their language of origin. We worked with some of our interpreters in those languages to come up with the most culturally accurate definition of each word that we could — bearing in mind that these words are highly subjective and hard to capture in a short phrase. In the video, we present each word on the screen, along with the language of origin and the definition on the following screen, while the unfolding scenes behind the words reflect their meaning visually.
The video was all filmed in Oregon, with four different locations over the course of four days. The sites varied from a dance studio in a beautiful old building in southeast Portland, Indian Beach on the coast at sunset, to the awe inspiring Smith Rock in eastern Oregon.
We had a full crew complete with six professional actors, a creative director, a director of photography, a producer and an art director, not to mention various assistants who no doubt were indispensable during the filming process.
On behalf of all of us at CLI, we would like to give a special thanks to the creative director, Slater Dixon who was integral during the long creative process that took us from scribbling ideas on Post-it's in our conference room through filming and the painstaking process of editing down more than 6 hours of footage into less than two minutes of finished product. We most certainly could never have done it without his amazing professionalism and talent.
Our goal was to evoke the emotional resonance of the interpreting services we provide by emphasizing the complexity of language. We sincerely hope you like it! Please feel free to share it with friends, family, and on social media to help us gain more exposure about the critical and fascinating role of interpreting.

Charlotte is the largest city in the U.S. state of North Carolina, the seat of Mecklenburg County, the second largest city in the Southeastern United States, just behind Jacksonville, Florida, and the third fastest-growing major city in the United States.[3] In 2014, the estimated population of Charlotte according to the U.S. Census Bureau was 809,958,[4] making it the 17th largest city in the United States based on population. The Charlotte metropolitan area ranks 22nd largest in the US and had a 2014 population of 2,380,314.[1] The Charlotte metropolitan area is part of a sixteen-county market region or combined statistical area with a 2014 U.S. Census population estimate of 2,537,990.[5] Residents of Charlotte are referred to as Charlotteans. It is listed as a gamma-plus global city by the [Globalization and World Cities Research Network]].[6]
Charlotte is home to the corporate headquarters of Bank of America and the east coast operations of Wells Fargo, which among other financial operations makes it the second largest banking center in the United States.[7] Among Charlotte's many notable attractions, some of the most popular include the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL), the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), 2 NASCAR Sprint Cup races and the NASCAR All-Star Race, the Wells Fargo Championship, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Carowinds amusement park, and the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a major international hub, and was ranked the 23rd busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic in 2013.[8]
Nicknamed the Queen City,[9] Charlotte and its resident county received its name in honor of Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who had become queen consort of Great Britain the year before the city's founding. A second nickname derives from the American Revolutionary War, when British commander General Cornwallis occupied the city but was driven out by hostile residents, prompting him to write that Charlotte was a hornet's nest of rebellion, leading to the nickname The Hornet's Nest.
Charlotte has a humid subtropical climate. Charlotte is located several miles east of the Catawba River and southeast of Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake in North Carolina. Lake Wylie and Mountain Island Lake are two smaller man-made lakes located near the city.
