USEFUL INFO
1. DAY TOUR
If you want to do the half day tour we did (although Cantonese speaking only it has guaranteed drop off and pick up) you can either:
a. Buy the ticket online at least 3 days before via this link
b. Turn up on the day to the Volcano Discovery Centre (opens 9am) to buy the ticket. Will only allow those first in to buy tickets. Note it is usually less busy in the morning.
2. CATCHING THE BUS
If you want to catch the bus you can catch the 96R from Sai Kung to Pak Cham Tung then walk and catch the 9A bus to east dam.
3. ENTRY TO THE DAM
Entry to the Dam is FREE! You only need to pay if you go on a tour.

start from Sai Kung ride on a green Taxi as easy way to reach cost around
$130 hkd (share w/friends so its cheaper) 30 mins. to 35 mins. travel time or you can go by walk takes an 4 to 5 hours depends on you.????
Going back must be early have mini bus or take Taxi again

The East Dam at High Island Reservior
The East Dam was completed in the 1970’s. It is set on the east side of Kwun Mun Channel. Your tour guide will lead you on a journey back to the Ming dynasty several hundred years ago when many merchant ships sailed between mainland China and Southeast Asia. High Island Reservoir, which supplies potable water to Hong Kong today, was once a small channel and stopover point on the Maritime Silk Road

The High Island Reservoir (Chinese: 萬宜水庫; pinyin: Wànyí shuǐkù; Jyutping: maan6 ji4 seoi2 fu3), located in the far south eastern part of the Sai Kung Peninsula, was opened in 1978 helping to alleviate water shortage problems in Hong Kong. Its water capacity is approximately 273 million cubic metres.

The island was connected to the peninsula by two dams that enclosed the Kwun Mun Channel (官門海峽), thereby forming the High Island Reservoir.
Take bus no. 94 departing from Sai Kung town centre or bus no. 96R departing from Diamond Hill MTR Station (weekends and public holidays only) and get off just after Pak Tam Chung. Walk along Tai Mong Tsai Road to the junction ahead. Turn right on Sai Kung Man Yee Road and walk about 9 km.
