Places to see in ( Portland - USA )
Portland, Oregon’s largest city, sits on the Columbia and Willamette rivers, in the shadow of snow-capped Mount Hood. It’s known for its parks, bridges and bicycle paths, as well as for its eco-friendliness and its microbreweries and coffeehouses. Iconic Washington Park encompasses sites from the formal Japanese Garden to Oregon Zoo and its railway. The city hosts thriving art, theater and music scenes.
Downtown Portland is the heart of the city. To the immediate south of Downtown is the campus of Portland State University and South Waterfront, an urban revitalization area at the southern end of the streetcar line with newly built glass residential towers. Just to the north of Downtown is Old Town, which is where Portland was first settled and which has some historic buildings and is a nightlife center, but also contains a fair amount of social services for homeless and mentally ill. The neighborhood also holds the remnants of Chinatown.
Just to the northwest of Downtown is the Pearl District, a very hip and trendy neighborhood on the streetcar line which was not long ago derelict warehouses and empty industrial space. To the north of the Pearl, at the northern end of the streetcar line is the Northwest District, also known as Nob Hill and also on the trendy side and with a variety of retail shops, bars, and restaurants along with plenty of lovely Victorians and tree-lined streets. West of this is the West Hills, where the well-to-do of Portland have traditionally lived.
Hawthorne Blvd, which runs east-west across the river from Downtown. SE Division, parallel to and a mile south of Hawthorne Blvd. Located along Sandy Blvd northeast of downtown, Hollywood is a commercial district for the nearby neighborhoods and home to the Hollywood Theater. To the north of downtown between MLK Blvd and 30th Avenue, Alberta Street has much the same feel as Hawthorne Blvd; a counter-culture/bohemian community that's becoming popular with yuppies.

Team Yancy Visits The Peculiarium in Portland, OR
-- NOTE: Upload V2.0. Original video had some sort of alien interference that had video wobbly and they muted our audio evens and whatnots! --
Even Team Yancy - Portland's Premier Paranormal Investigating Team hesitates for a moment when asked what is this place in NW Portland called The Peculiarium. This truly unique storefront/museum will give most visitors a range of emotions from a simple smile, to a full
blown other-worldly paranormal panic attack.
We visited on a strong recommendation after a day of exploring around Portland for ghosts, hobgoblins (among other thangs), and collecting soil samples to take back to our bunker for the beta-analysis and whatnots.
Immediately upon arriving out front, we realized this was going to be a true test of each of our personalities and ability to stop being serious and have some fun while looking over things relating to the paranormal. As you may know Team Yancy doesn't play - every minute of every explorable we undertake is spent with eyes wide open and massive data collection.
This was gonna be interesting to see -- as The Peculiarium takes a kinda tongue-in-cheek approach to their store/museum displays. While you can find some debatable things inside,
there is a lot of over-the-top-wild paranormal displays thru the building and the idea is to have an open mind, but have some chuckles & fun along the way. Asking Team Yancy to tuen the serious knob down from about a 9 to a 3 was gonna be fun to watch - regardless of their ability to succeed or not and whatnot.
We will let the video walk-thru describe The Peculiarium for us -- it is a very visual experience indeed. While the store does sell some food, some small themed collectibles and the like - there is NO CHARGE to walk thru the facility and view the intriguing art and displays that cover every inch of the inside.
After the nice gentleman behind the counter put up with us bopping around for almost 30 minutes, I (my name is Yancy) noticed they had Official Peculiarium stickers for just 2 bucks each - and proudly purchased one. Yancy encourages those who visit to spend a few bucks on
something/anything so they can keep on keeping on.
Follow our Team Yancy YouTube Channel for an upcoming photo slideshow video with photos showing some things not seen in this video!
Also - out shortly in our YouTube Channel will be a video were I (my name is Yancy) have an item/object that is indeed very peculiar and I shall present it in video form to the store and see if a return visit and examination of this piece might help me learn what it is. (No Spoilers)

Portland Oregon is located in Northwestern Oregon, where the Columbia and Willamette rivers meet. The metropolitan area is made up of several suburban cities all within 15 miles of downtown Portland. As the original commerce center of Oregon, Portland is the largest city in the state and home to a diverse population, culture, recreation, and history. There is always something to do in Portland, from Rose Festival in June, to Skiing in the winter. Geographically there are four counties: Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington in Oregon; and Clark County in Washington, all part of the greater metropolitan area. We are sometimes known as the Willamette Valley because we have the Coast Range to the West and the Cascade Range to the East. However the Willamette Valley proper simply ends in Portland and extends 100 miles south through some of the most fertile and productive farm land on earth. The population of the metro area is 1.9 million, the largest metropolitan area in Oregon. The city of Portland has an official population of over 630,000. Topography of Portland varies between rolling hills, flat, and some steep sloped areas with gorgeous views of Mt. Hood, 11,235' high. It is, however, still the least expensive large city on the West Coast and obviously, it is popular between tourists. They are attracted by museums: Oregon Rail Heritage Center, Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center, Freakybuttrue Peculiarium, Ping Pong's Pint Sized Puppet Museum, The Faux Museum: Gallery & Store, Wells Fargo History Museum, Oregon Maritime Museum, The Hat Museum, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Portland Children's Museum, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Washington County Museum; by theaters: Oregon Ballet Theatre, Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Aladdin Theater, ComedySportz Arena, Roseway Theater, Helium Comedy Club, Oregon Symphony, Laurelhurst Theatre, Sisters Movie House, The Brody Theater, Mission Theater & Pub, Rose Quarter, The Gerding Theater at the Armory, Wonder Ballroom, Curious Comedy Theater and certainly by wonderful landmarks: Oregon Holocaust Memorial, ODS Tower, Pearl District, Ankeny Plaza, Pioneer Courthouse, Overlook House, The Portland Building, FlyStyle, Sellwood Bridge, Assumption Catholic Church, Salmon Street Springs, Benson Bubblers, Sellwood Community Center, Old Town, Pioneer Courthouse Square, Animals in Pools, James F. Bybee House, Hawthorne Bridge, Fremont Bridge, Glazed Terra-Cotta National Historic District, Hawthorne, Plaza Blocks, KOIN Building, Eastbank Esplanade, Community Music Center, Battleship Oregon Memorial, Klickitat Street, Save The PT Boat, Inc., O'Bryant Square, St. Mary's Cathedral, West moon, Sckavone Stadium, Sauvie Island Farms, Saint Michael the Archangel Church, Trevett-Nunn House. HVAC is based on inventions and discoveries made by Nikolay Lvov, Michael Faraday, Willis Carrier, Edwin Ruud, Reuben Trane, James Joule, William Rankine, Sadi Carnot, and many others.
Multiple inventions within this time frame preceded the beginnings of first comfort air conditioning system, which was designed in 1902 by Alfred Wolff (Cooper, 2003) for the New York Stock Exchange, while Willis Carrier equipped the Sacketts-Wilhems Printing Company with the process AC unit the same year.
The invention of the components of HVAC systems went hand-in-hand with the industrial revolution, and new methods of modernization, higher efficiency, and system control are constantly being introduced by companies and inventors worldwide. Enchanted Forest Trip 2015
Here is a quick vid of the family at the Enchanted Forest Park in Oregon. The kids are getting a bit old for this, but our youngest Savannah (7) and I think Skylar (12) and Sydnee (9) still had a decent time.
I have fond memories of this place from the 1970's and 80's and felt like a kid at times today going down the rabbit whole...one last time???
