Dynamo Net Climber - 30 Foot Wow Factor in Boise, Idaho
Dynamo Net Climber construction at JUMP in Boise, Idaho. As you can see, this playground net climber has a 30 ft. WOW factor that will entice kids of all ages. The Dynamo net climber can withstand the weight of 300 kids and is IPEMA approved.
Because of the unusually large size of this net climber LucyDog Recreation Idaho playground construction crew worked closely with all parties to insure a perfect product.
Planning a Dynamo net climber of this scope and size doesn’t just happen overnight. Construction representatives from JUMP and the Simplot Foundation started the evaluation process meeting with LuckyDog Recreation to determine if the Super 805 was the toy they committed to and if LuckyDog Recreation was the company that could pull it off. A resounding “yes” was the answer to both questions, and as plans began to materialize, the international sales representative from Dynamo Industries flew out to meet in person to uncover, discover, and determine if and how the Super 805 could meet the exact needs of the JUMP representatives.
One obstacle we encountered from the start was the fact that the location set aside for the giant climber was on top of a parking garage. This required some creative engineering as most playground structures of this scope and size have “huge” in-ground footers, some 5’ deep and then almost 3’ in diameter. As the roof of the parking garage has a impervious rubber membrane that cannot be compromised, the architectural plans for the structure had to be re-worked to be “surface” mount rather that “in-ground” mount; thus the need to “begin with the end in mind.”
Landscape architect Kim Siegenthaler from Jensen Belts Associates was instrumental in making contacts between suppliers and owners. She was responsible for the smooth outcome of engineering “The Climber” to meet the needs of the customer, while still adhering to strict building codes required by the state.
As for construction day, LuckyDog was prequalified to be the subcontractor of Hoffman Corporation, the GC for the entire JUMP property. LuckyDog, along with 4 or 5 of their best installers took only 2 weeks to complete the installation of the Super 805.
The pour-in-place safety surfacing by Flexground Nevada was done immediately after the net construction, and the equipment awaits opening day of play. Charlie Robertson of Flexground has a reputation for bringing out the best in a project and has many, many installations in the Treasure Valley, a testament to the quality work they do. Notice the multi-colored intricate design as per the architects drawing at the client’s exact requirements.
The Dynamo Super 805 Net Climber (“The Climber”) is a “frame” net climber manufactured by Dynamo Playgrounds. The LuckyDog team has completed this Boise, Idaho playground construction project and anxiously awaits the Grand opening.

Dog gets picked up by eagle, found alive 2 hours later
Original airdate: 1/4/2018 | You could say the Newhards are animal people.
They have four little dogs who complete their family.
But Tuesday, they had come to tearful terms that they had lost one.
Never crossed my mind that that would ever happen, says Monica Newhard.
Tuesday afternoon, the dogs went out into the yard to play, as usual.
Monica says her brother was the one who was home and let them out. He looked up and saw a majestic eagle circling…but then, it swooped down.
He's thinking 'what beautiful wings' and then all the sudden he's going, 'Oh my god, that's Zoey! Monica says, recalling what her brother saw.
In a flash, little eight-pound Zoey was gone, flying out of sight, clutched in the eagle's talons.
The family desperately began searching near their home on the Lehigh River. They say the temps were in the single digits. The water had frozen, and they realized, the eagle must've been looking for alternatives for food.
They put a picture on Facebook, hoping they'd at least get the body back, so they could bury her.
Never were we looking or ever thinking that our dog would be alive. It was dead, you know? Monica says.

David Lamfrom: California's New National Monuments | Talks at Google
David Lamfrom, Director of the National Parks Conservation Association’s California Desert and National Wildlife Programs, visited Google’s office in Mountain View, CA to discuss the ongoing conservation work in California’s deserts.
The designation of Sand to Snow, Mojave Trails, and Castle Mountains as National Monuments is regarded as one of the most significant conservation acts in modern US history. This action has connected iconic National Park lands, including Joshua Tree and the Mojave National Preserve, to interstitial mountain ranges and drainages, providing large-scale ecological sanctuary for both plants and animals.
Using photography, David discusses the extreme conditions that make these lands both unique and important to US natural history.
Inside Kevin Costner's $250,000 Per Week Aspen Estate
When you get a once in a lifetime invitation to visit Kevin Costner's 160-acre estate in Aspen, Colorado — an opportunity that's typically reserved for Hollywood elite, billionaire CEOs and royal families — you get on a plane and go!

That's exactly what I did.
As a producer for the CNBC's prime-time series, Secret Lives of the Super Rich, I've been in some of the most exclusive and expensive mega-mansions on the planet. But I was excited about this assignment because I'm a big Costner fan. Plus, over the phone, Costner's real estate broker, Amy Mottier, told me the star built a private baseball field on his property, an homage to his famous movie, Field of Dreams. I was dying to see it and run the bases in person.
When I arrived in Aspen, one of the wealthiest zip codes in America (my first time there), the autumn foliage was at its peak and the drive to Costner's compound took my breath away. It may have also had something to do with the air: Aspen sits at about 8,000 feet above sea level.
The first glimpse you get of the estate is are the understated and highly secure front gates. (That's where I met Mottier, a friend of Costner's wife who was Aspen chic in tall leather boots and a custom Charlie Tweedle cowboy hat, some of which can cost thousands of dollars.)
From the gates, a private drive extends into a giant valley and Costner owns all of it. There's a forest of perfectly golden birch trees that collide with a wall of bold green pines at the bank of the Roaring Fork river that runs through the valley.
On the property, there are three lodges that can sleep 27, according to Mottier, and our tour started at the multi-level main home.
When you walk in it feels like you're entering a cozy Four Seasons lobby complete with a wood burning double-sided fire place.
Mottier called the aesthetic, comfortable like grandma's house. It must be someone else's very wealthy grandmother she's referring to.
My first thought was that there are touches of Kevin Costner everywhere. The animal skin rugs and fur blankets reminded me of his movie, Dances with Wolves.
In the master bedroom, a massive mountain lion is mounted above the bed.
I was kind of obsessed with the cat until Mottier asked, Do you want me to show you the trap door?
Clearly, yes, but before I could answer, Mottier was rolling up the carpet at the foot of the bed. It revealed a door in the floor boards that opened to a wooden staircase leading down to an incredible hot tub that overlooks the river and mountains. I literally gasped when she pressed a button that turned on a waterfall from the stone work over-head into the tub.
Why go to all the trouble to build a trap door? Simple, she said. Costner has a flare for the dramatic (plus it creates private access to the hot tub).
Even more amazing than the main house were the grounds. There are sledding hills and two ponds stocked with trophy trout. Then there's the lake house and the river house.
But all I wanted to do was go straight to the baseball field. Unlike in Field of Dreams, the diamond is not bordered by cornfields. The view from home plate is of the golden forest and snow-capped mountains.
Costner's been in four baseball themed movies, so he's had lots of inspiration for designing the field of his own dreams. Massive speakers mean you can enjoy music from every base, an automated ball machine pitches strikes over home plate and stadium lighting that allows for games day or night.
I take a quick iPhone picture in front of the field and my tour is complete.
If you want a field of dreams selfie of your own, it's possible, but it's going to cost you; Costner rents the property with a one-week minimum stay that costs $250,000.

Song Sparrow
The Music of Nature proudly presents Song Sparrow, a video portrait featuring several singing Song Sparrows, gathered in the countryside around Ithaca, New York. Song Sparrows are winter residents here and their bright carols are often heard on cold, clear mornings in late winter. Males continue singing well into the summer months.
