Historic Lewes Farmers Market - Opening Day Time Lapse 2012 -- Lewes, Delaware -- SugarFly Studios
I mounted my GoPro camera to one of the barn doors around the food demo kitchen at the Historic Lewes Farmer's Market in downtown Lewes. The food demo kitchen is directly across the Bella's Cookies booth -- a natural and organic bakery which I am very fond of as my wife is the president and head baker.
Here you can see the hustle and bustle of the Lewes Farmer's Market on opening day. I missed the early crowd as I was busy under the tent, but managed to mount this around 9 am. You'll notice the DE State Representatives and Senators gathering around the kitchen as the market officially unveiled it's plaque for Best Medium Sized Farmer's Market in the country. Good job HLFM. I'm in the red shirt.

Delaware's Legendary Fountain Of Youth! And The Historic Maull House! Lewes, DE 10/15/2017
Legend has it that the Fountain of Youth aka Ye Old Fountain of Youth in Lewes, Delaware was discovered by the area's first Dutch colonists in 1631. Perhaps this is true? Ponce de Leon went to Florida looking for the fountain of youth. He should have traveled further north, instead. The tiny gazebo that marks the Fountain of Youth was built by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce in 1937. Curiously, the Fountain now has a little swampy spring with some young looking frogs in it, and the rare, leftward-spiral conch shell cup that used to hang from the gazebo (said to boost the Fountain's regenerative powers) has gone missing.
The Maull House dates to about 1730, and is a 1 1/2-story, with attic, cypress sheathed frame dwelling with a gambrel roof. It measures 30 feet by 16 feet. A rear wing was added about 1890. It is the oldest Lewes building in its original location and with the least alterations. Adjacent to the house is a section of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal where a dock for the pilots' boats would have been. In 1803, Jérôme Bonaparte and his bride, Betsy Patterson, were shipwrecked off Lewes and entertained at the Maull House. Joseph Maull (1781-1846) served as Governor of Delaware from March 2, 1846, until his death on May 3, 1846. The house remained in the Maull family until 1957, and was obtained by the Colonel David Hall Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, in 1962.

Minutes away from Rehoboth Beach and Lewes on the Eastern Shore rests the quaint little village of Milton. Milton suggests life in another era -- Victorian in look and charm, this seaside shipbuilding site is filled with historic homes and landmarks.
Less than 2,000 people make up the population of Milton, but the village thrives on the success of its local businesses and tourism. Bolstered by balmy winds and a relatively temperate climate for the area, Milton offers genteel family life centered around the opportunities for fishing and recreation on the Delaware Bay. The village is proud of its safe, clean streets and stable property values.
If you seek relief from big city traffic, pollution and fast-paced living, you'll fall in love with the beautiful beaches, ocean breezes and leisurely lifestyle the residents of Milton share with each other and their seasonal neighbors and vacationers.
Antique shopping, special events and restaurants based on Milton's heritage give you ample opportunities for fun and enjoyment. Don't miss the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery for a tour and a taste of locally brewed beers. Other restaurant attractions that are famous in the village are the Irish Eyes Pub and Restaurant and the Brick Hotel Restaurant and Tavern. You'll also want to check out some of the parades, local festivals and craft fairs -- all of southern Delaware loves a good festival!
Just before the War of 1812, the original village of Head of Broadkill was renamed to Milton in honor of the English poet John Milton. History and literature are still an important part of the community and is education and the preservation of the local homes and landmarks. Milton was also once known as the Holly Capital of the World; producing giant American Holly plants that grow to as much as 60 feet. At one point, the village engaged in a successful button making industry, creating buttons from shipments of mother-of-pearl from Europe.
Fishing enthusiasts can head to nearby Broadkill Beach or Cape Henlopen State Park for a day or an afternoon of some of the area's finest fishing spots. Surrounding the village are a number of flatland roads offering beautiful scenery for cyclists.
Milton is well-known for agriculture and wonderful farmers' markets. You can buy the freshest summer fruits and vegetables directly from local gardeners and farmers, and the area also produces soybeans, corn and chickens.
