'Kowloon Park (Chinese: 九龍公園) is a large public park in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It has an area of 13.3 hectares (33 acres) and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Flora and gardens
There is a tree walk located next to the Rose Garden. There are also some stone wall trees growing on the walls adjacent to aviary pond in Kowloon Park.
Museums
One preserved historic barrack, Block S58, is used as a godown of Hong Kong Museum of History. Three other preserved buildings of the former barracks are used as museums:
Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre

Blocks S61 and S62 of former Whitfield Camp are Grade III historical buildings which were constructed in circa 1910. They are a pair of identical two storied colonial military barrack blocks. The roofs are pitched with Chinese tiles with tar finish. They housed the former Hong Kong Museum of History from 1983 to 1998 before the completion of the present Hong Kong Museum of History at Chatham Road South. An extension block linking the two historical barracks was constructed in the 1980s to provide more space for the museum facilities. It now houses the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre.[11]

Block S4 of former Whitfield Camp is a two-storied colonial military barrack building which is identical to Blocks S61 and S62. It now houses the Health Education Exhibition and Resource Centre.
Avenue of Comic Stars
Main article: Hong Kong Avenue of Comic Stars
Located near the park's Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard entrance, the Hong Kong Avenue of Comic Stars opened in 2012. It features 24 figurines of local comic characters and 10 bronze handprints of local comic artists along a 100-metre path.[12]
Bird Lake and the Aviary
Apart from the birds in the Bird Lake and the Aviary, about 100 different wild bird species can be found in the Park. The Conservation Corner, Color Garden, Chinese Garden, Bird Lake and Fitness Trail are ideal spots for wild bird watching.[13]
Sporting facilities

Kowloon Park Swimming Pool
The park houses an indoor sports centre and a large aquatics centre.
The pool complex is the most heavily used in Hong Kong, serving over 2000 swimmers daily.[14] It includes four indoor heated pools, including an Olympic sized 50-metre main pool, two 25-metre training pools, and a 20-metre diving pool. Outdoors, there are leisure pools of irregular shapes linked together by waterfalls, a circular paddling pool, and sunbathing areas. The swimming complex opened on 12 September 1989 and can accommodate a maximum of 1530 swimmers, and has an annual attendance of more than 1 million visitors.
As one of the best equipped swimming pools in Hong Kong, it is the only venue on the Kowloon side suitable for staging major or international swimming events.[15] Events of the Hong Kong Games are also held there regularly.
Other facilities
The former Kowloon West II Battery, which was graded as Grade I historic building, was converted into a children's adventure playground in Kowloon Park;[16] it is still recognisable for what it was, however. The gun emplacements have been renovated. Naval guns have been mounted in each emplacement after they were discovered at a construction site at Chatham Road in Tsim Sha Tsui in 1980.[17]'

The Avenue, based on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, celebrates stars of the Hong Kong Film Industry, and was opened in April 2004.
The Avenue of Stars is a scenic seaside promenade in the east of Tsim Sha Tsui, stretches a total length of 440 meters from Hong Kong Museum of Art to New World Centre. It models after the Hollywood Avenue of Stars in Los Angeles. The name and hand prints of the distinguished Hong Kong film stars, like Jackie Chan and Andy Lau, are embedded in special plaques and arranged chronologically on the avenue, in order to commemorate the history of the film industry in Hong Kong. Strolling along the Avenue of Stars, feeling the sea breeze, you can enjoy the bright night view on the other side of Victoria Harbor, and the bustling star ferries over the sea. Due to its relatively advantageous location. I hope you enjoy the view.

STORY: HONG KONG COMICS
LOCATION: HONG KONG
More than 280 thousand people have flocked to Hong Kong's first ever comic festival.
Hong Kong fans queued overnight to make sure they wouldn't miss out on anything at the five day event, held at the terrtory's Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Like in Japan, people in Hong Kong are avid comic readers and the territory has a flourishing industry of comic book creators churning out more and more every week. They are also becoming increasingly popular overseas. Hong Kong is now the world's third biggest exporter of comics after the US and Japan, with translations of local Cantonese comics sold in a dozen other countries.
Comic-crazed fans at the festival showed their dedication by taking part in this contest to find the best look-alike of a comic book character.
Several young girls dressed up as Japanese comic book characters. A vast range of Japanese comics are translated into Chinese for Hong Kong readers. Fans say the Japanese comics have more varied plots. The majority of Hong Kong comics revolve around Chinese martial arts heroes battling foes with supernatural powers.
But in the face of Japanese competition, Hong Kong comics are being forced to improve.
The father of the Hong Kong comic industry is Tony Wong, who started off in the sixties with a comic called Three Little Vagabonds. He has gone on to employ more than 100 illustrators, at Jade Dunasty Comics, working on six weekly comics. The most successful has gone trough
more than one thousand three hundred issues.
It generally takes a day to finish a page, from pencil draft to final version. Different assistants have different jobs - lining the head of a figure, lining the muscles or lining the background. Computers are used only for special effects or filling in background colours - comic illustration is overwhelmingly done by hand here.
The festival includes an exhibition of original illustrations. But high standards are hard to come by, and there are always concerns about the amount of violent and sexual content in Hong Kong comics, despite various attempts at classifying comics and restricting their sale.
Also of concern to parents and authorities are the weapons that Hong Kong comics promote. Many fans at the festival came to buy swords - some of them very real - just like the ones their favourite comic characters use.
But among young people themselves there doesn't seem to be too much concern about being led astray by the comics they read.
Until this year Hong Kong comic lovers had to go to the annual book fair to indulge their obsession in a small comics section. Now they've got their own comic festival and it looks set to continue every year.

notes:
Hong Kong Museum of Art is currently closed when we visited Hong Kong and Avenue of Stars was included in our itinerary but it was veeery crowded :(
I highly recommend eating in Samki Noodles House in Tsim Sha Tsui and try their Ox Brisket Rice and Wan Ton Rice Noodles with their homemade chili oil for some authentic Chinese cuisine. It's at the back of Chungking Mansion and in front of Ichiran Ramen.
To save some money, do not throw your empty water bottles in Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Hong Kong as they have drinking fountain inside.
