ULTRA HD 4K KOWLOON PARK IN HONG KONG | 九龍公園
#kowloonpark #park #hongkong #kowloon
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Kowloon Park 九龍公園 in Tsim Sha Tsui. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
'Kowloon Park (Chinese: 九龍公園) is a large public park in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It has an area of 13.3 hectares (33 acres) and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Flora and gardens
There is a tree walk located next to the Rose Garden. There are also some stone wall trees growing on the walls adjacent to aviary pond in Kowloon Park.
Museums
One preserved historic barrack, Block S58, is used as a godown of Hong Kong Museum of History. Three other preserved buildings of the former barracks are used as museums:

Blocks S61 and S62 of former Whitfield Camp are Grade III historical buildings which were constructed in circa 1910. They are a pair of identical two storied colonial military barrack blocks. The roofs are pitched with Chinese tiles with tar finish. They housed the former Hong Kong Museum of History from 1983 to 1998 before the completion of the present Hong Kong Museum of History at Chatham Road South. An extension block linking the two historical barracks was constructed in the 1980s to provide more space for the museum facilities. It now houses the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre.[11]

Block S4 of former Whitfield Camp is a two-storied colonial military barrack building which is identical to Blocks S61 and S62. It now houses the Health Education Exhibition and Resource Centre.
Avenue of Comic Stars

Located near the park's Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard entrance, the Hong Kong Avenue of Comic Stars opened in 2012. It features 24 figurines of local comic characters and 10 bronze handprints of local comic artists along a 100-metre path.[12]
Bird Lake and the Aviary
Apart from the birds in the Bird Lake and the Aviary, about 100 different wild bird species can be found in the Park. The Conservation Corner, Color Garden, Chinese Garden, Bird Lake and Fitness Trail are ideal spots for wild bird watching.[13]
Sporting facilities

Kowloon Park Swimming Pool
The park houses an indoor sports centre and a large aquatics centre.
The pool complex is the most heavily used in Hong Kong, serving over 2000 swimmers daily.[14] It includes four indoor heated pools, including an Olympic sized 50-metre main pool, two 25-metre training pools, and a 20-metre diving pool. Outdoors, there are leisure pools of irregular shapes linked together by waterfalls, a circular paddling pool, and sunbathing areas. The swimming complex opened on 12 September 1989 and can accommodate a maximum of 1530 swimmers, and has an annual attendance of more than 1 million visitors.
As one of the best equipped swimming pools in Hong Kong, it is the only venue on the Kowloon side suitable for staging major or international swimming events.[15] Events of the Hong Kong Games are also held there regularly.
Other facilities
The former Kowloon West II Battery, which was graded as Grade I historic building, was converted into a children's adventure playground in Kowloon Park;[16] it is still recognisable for what it was, however. The gun emplacements have been renovated. Naval guns have been mounted in each emplacement after they were discovered at a construction site at Chatham Road in Tsim Sha Tsui in 1980.[17]'

Heritage Museum – Second Floor And Tsui Gallery – Hong Kong – Audio Guide – MyWoWo Travel App
The second floor of the museum hosts the T. T. Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art”, divided into two sections.
In this gallery, you can admire the donations from the Tsui Art foundation, named after Tsui Tsin-tong, an important entrepreneur, philanthropist and antiques expert, who throughout his life built up an impressive collection of art objects and antiques. Here you'll find Chinese ceramics dating from the Stone Age to the porcelain of the Qing dynasty, works and sculptures in wood, bamboo and bronze, tomb statues, beautiful jade and glass objects as well as ancient furniture.
In the first section, among the various treasures on display is an album of 9 paintings by the famous Chinese artist Huang Yongyu. These works are inspired by nine ceramic funeral sculptures dating to the Han and Tang dynasties, which the artist was able to admire, in 1991, in a museum set up between the 1970s and 1990s by Dr. Tsui, a close friend of his. Seven of the works are on show in this section.
In the second section, you're sure to be enchanted by the exquisite porcelain objects, including two sets of 12 cups, with each piece featuring a flower representing a month of the year as well as a poem...

Heritage Museum – Jin Yong Gallery – Hong Kong – Audio Guide – MyWoWo Travel App
In addition to the large area dedicated to children, the lower level of the museum hosts the gallery dedicated to one of the most famous modern Chinese writers: Jin Yong.
Jin Yong is actually the pseudonym by which the author penned his novels written between the 1950s and 1970s. His real name is Louis Cha, a well-known journalist who started publishing novels in 1955. His works, which originally appeared in instalments in a number of daily papers in Hong Kong, proved such a success that they were then printed as complete books. His novels are very popular in most Asian countries, and have also gradually spread to many Western countries where they have been translated into numerous languages.
But what literary genre do his masterpieces belong to? Akin to what we might call cloak-and-dagger” novels in the West, they belong to the oriental wuxia” genre, a literary style based on martial arts, often set in the past, at the time of the ancient Chinese dynasties. The characters, skilled in martial arts, are noble, courageous souls; they take orders from no-one and combat injustice and wrongdoing...

Heritage Museum – Jin Yong Gallery – Hong Kong – Audioguide – MyWoWo Travel App
