The Hong Kong Science Museum (香港科學館) is must-visit place. We filmed it in 2019, and the video is in ultra hd 4k, crystal clear quality as if you are here.
The Hong Kong Science Museum (Chinese: 香港科學館) is a science museum in Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon, Hong Kong, located next to the Hong Kong Museum of History. he Hong Kong Science Museum was first conceived by the Urban Council in 1976.[2] The council hired American firm E. Verner Johnson and Associates in 1984 to help plan the museum.[3] Three more design firms were later engaged to work on the exhibits: West Office Design, Toshihiko Sakow Associates, and Levy Design.[4] In 1986, the council hired Hong Kong architecture firm Palmer and Turner to design the museum.[3] It was built by Leighton Contractors (Asia) Limited.
Construction began in March 1988 and was completed in November 1990.[3] The museum cost HK$340 million.[2] It was officially opened by Governor David Wilson and Urban Council Chairman H.M.G. Forsgate on 18 April 1991.[2]
In 2000 the Urban Council was disbanded, and management of the museum became the responsibility of the newly-formed Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The museum has Cathay Pacific's first DC-3 airliner suspended from the ceiling.
The most popular exhibition items for children are a computer area, a real (but stationary) car in which visitors can attempt to drive in a driving simulation while avoiding accidents, speeding, and excessive fuel usage, and a small life-sized stationary aircraft with a video of a flight around Hong Kong playing inside the cockpit. Refreshments are provided at a small cafe.
About 500 exhibits are displayed in the permanent exhibition area. The most prominent exhibit is the 22-metre-high twin-tower Energy Machine which is the largest of its kind in the world. A total of 18 galleries cover a wide range of science and technology topics including light, sound, motion, electricity and magnetism, mathematics, life science, geography, meteorology, computer, transportation, communication, food science, energy/energy conservation and home technology. About 80 per cent of the exhibits are participatory so that visitors may learn through direct involvement.
The museum staff also performs live demonstrations daily, many of which are designed for younger visitors.

Hong Kong Space Museum with a Happy Ending
Really had fun with my little boy exploring space at Hong Kong Space Museum. If you're taking the MTR, would suggest you go out from Exit L3 of Tsim Sha Tsui Station as it is near the pedestrian walkway crossing towards the TST Harbour. Too bad that my little boy was almost 3yrs old when we went there, so he wasnt able to enjoy the shows yet. Nonetheless we just hanged out at Hall of Cosmos but he really enjoyed space exploring and the rocket blasting off to space.
Would really recommend you visit the place if you're travelling with your kids here in HK. They would surely learn a lot of stuff while having fun.

Welcome to the Hong Kong Space Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here. This video is a day out with my son, like a vlog.
'The Hong Kong Space Museum is an astronomy and space science museum located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Opening in 1980, it is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government.[1] The building is notable for its hemispherical shape, which contains a planetarium, the only one in Hong Kong. The main facilities of the museum are located in a building next to the planetarium, showcasing information about the Solar System, cosmology, and spaceflight.
Accessible from Salisbury Road, it is adjacent to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower. The Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of History are also located in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The Space Museum regularly holds various types of astronomical exhibitions and lectures. It is also open to schools, groups and the public. It has been nicknamed the pineapple bun (菠蘿包) due to its shape.
he museum has two wings: east wing and west wing. The former consists of the nucleus of the museum's planetarium, which has an egg-shaped dome structure. Beneath it are the Stanley Ho Space Theatre, the Hall of Space Science, workshops and offices. The west wing houses the Hall of Astronomy, the Lecture Hall, a gift shop and offices.
The planetarium's egg-shaped dome covers more than 8,000 square metres, making it a famous landmark in Hong Kong. It was the first local planetarium for the popularisation of astronomy and space science.[2] The computerized star imager in the Sky Gallery of the Space Museum is capable of simulating the sky through optical principles, projecting 8,000 stars onto the hemisphere screen of the Planetarium.
There is also a mockup of the nose and cockpit section of the Space Shuttle orbiter.
Hong Kong Space Museum has two thematic exhibition halls: the Hall of Space Science and the Hall of Astronomy on the ground and first floors respectively. The exhibits, predominantly interactive, enable visitors to learn through a series of entertaining and educational experiences.'

A seven minute walk though showing the best of the Hong Kong Space Museum. Plenty of activities, great for the kids, it's free. The site also has a really great planetarium.
Extreme transformer home in Hong Kong: Gary Chang's 24 rooms in 1
Gary Chang has lived in the same 32 square meters (344 square feet) for nearly his entire life. Nearly 40 years ago, he moved into the tiny apartment with not only his parents and 3 younger sisters, but they rented a room to a tenant.
During his childhood the space was divided into several small rooms- kitchen, bathrooms and 3 bedrooms (Chang slept on the couch). In 1988 when his family moved out (into something bigger), Chang bought the place from the landlord for $45,000 and began his experiments in small space design.
Today, at first glance, the small space appears a fairly average open studio, but with pulls on handles, walls slide across steel tracks, Chang can have a maximum kitchen, a guest bedroom, a library, dining room, laundry-room and even a spa: one walls slides to reveal an extra-large Duravit bathtub.
His home is tricked out with a wall-sized movie screen, a shower with color therapy and massage that doubles as a steam room, but Chang argues that the moving walls are fairly low-tech. And while he can control his appliances with his smartphone he usually prefers the manual option.
Chang is now an architect (Edge Design) with a focus on micro-apartments.

Hong Kong Space Museum 香港太空馆。How small we are. 我们这么渺小,啥都不是事儿
I just couldn’t resist museums, libraries and temptations. Lol.
How small we are, compared with the universe.
To the whole world, you are one. To the one that love you, you are the whole world.
So nothing is a big deal (because we are small), and nothing is too small an issue (because we are loved, by ourselves and others). Hahaha
世界这么大,啥都不是事儿。但对爱你的人来说,所有你的事,全都是大事儿。哈哈哈#太空 #英语 #银河 #爱你

HONG KONG, CHINA TRAVEL: Hong Kong Museum of History, Kowloon
This is at the foyer of the Hong Kong Museum of History. It's highly recommended, and I am glad I did it on Day 02, my first day out, as it gave me an extended insight into everything I saw. It covers everything from what Hong Kong was like physically during the dawn of time to Hong Kong becoming part of China only 14 years ago. Probably one of my favourite themed museums ever, my 2nd favourite museum behind British Museum in London. If you want to soak it all in, I would suggest a minimum of 3 hours to be had.
The Hong Kong Space Museum...Part 7
The Hong Kong Space Museum (Chinese) is a museum of astronomy and space science in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government.
The idea of a planetarium was originally proposed in 1961 by the Urban Council. Ten years later, the Urban Services Department (USD) set up a working group to study overseas experience in establishing planetariums. The study was aimed at laying the groundwork for setting up the future Hong Kong Space Museum. The Hong Kong Government decided to build the museum at Tsim Sha Tsui and invited Mr. Joseph Liu to serve as Planetarium Advisor.
In 1974, The USD signed a contract with the Carl Zeiss Company to purchase a planetarium and other equipment with a price of HK$3,050,000.
Construction commenced in 1977 and the museum opened on 8 October 1980.

ULTRA HD 4K HONG KONG WALKING TOUR - OCEAN TERMINAL TO SPACE MUSEUM TSIM SHA TSUI
#walk #walking #4kwalking #hongkong #discoverhongkong
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Tsim Sha Tsui. The walk is from Ocean Terminal (next to Star Ferry) in Tsim Sha Tsui, to Hong Kong Space Museum. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
'Tsim Sha Tsui (Chinese: 尖沙咀), often abbreviated as TST, is an urban area in southern Kowloon, Hong Kong. The area is administratively part of the Yau Tsim Mong District. Tsim Sha Tsui East is a piece of land reclaimed from the Hung Hom Bay now east of Tsim Sha Tsui. The area is bounded north by Austin Road and in the east by Hong Chong Road and Cheong Wan Road.
Geographically, Tsim Sha Tsui is a cape on the tip of the Kowloon Peninsula pointing towards Victoria Harbour, opposite Central. Several villages had been established in this location before Kowloon was ceded to the British Empire in 1860. Tsim Sha Tsui in Chinese means sharp sandspit. It was also known as Heung Po Tau (香埗頭), i.e. a port for exporting incense tree.
Tsim Sha Tsui is a major tourist hub in Hong Kong, with many high-end shops and restaurants that cater to tourists. Many of Hong Kong's museums are located in the area.'
