Starting Point: Compromise Street - .
Annapolis is the capital of the U.S. state of Maryland, as well as the county seat of Anne Arundel County. Situated on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Severn River, 25 miles (40 km) south of Baltimore and about 30 miles (50 km) east of Washington, DC, Annapolis is part of the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. Its population was measured at 38,394 by the 2010 census.
The city served as the seat of the Continental Congress in 1783–84 and was the site of the 1786 Annapolis Convention (which called for the Constitutional Convention held the following year) and the Annapolis Peace Conference, held in 2007. Annapolis is the home of St. John's College as well as the United States Naval Academy.
The United States Naval Academy (also known as USNA, Annapolis, or simply Navy) is a four-year coeducational federal service academy in Annapolis, Maryland, United States. Established in 1845 under Secretary of the Navy George Bancroft, it is the second oldest of the United States' five service academies, and educates officers for commissioning primarily into the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The 338-acre (137 ha) campus is located on the former grounds of Fort Severn at the confluence of the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay in Anne Arundel County, 33 miles (53 km) east of Washington, D.C. and 26 miles (42 km) southeast of Baltimore. The entire campus is a National Historic Landmark and home to many historic sites, buildings, and monuments. It replaced Philadelphia Naval Asylum, in Philadelphia, that served as the first United States Naval Academy from 1838 to 1845 when the Naval Academy formed in Annapolis.[4]
Candidates for admission generally must both apply directly to the academy and receive a nomination, usually from a Member of Congress. Students are officers-in-training and are referred to as midshipmen. Tuition for midshipmen is fully funded by the Navy in exchange for an active duty service obligation upon graduation. Approximately 1,200 plebes (an abbreviation of the Ancient Roman word plebeian) enter the Academy each summer for the rigorous Plebe Summer, but only about 1,000 midshipmen graduate. Graduates are usually commissioned as ensigns in the Navy or second lieutenants in the Marine Corps, but a small number can also be cross-commissioned as officers in other U.S. services, and the services of allied nations. The United States Naval Academy has some of the highest paid graduates in the country according to starting salary.[5] The academic program grants a bachelor of science degree with a curriculum that grades midshipmen's performance upon a broad academic program, military leadership performance, and mandatory participation in competitive athletics. Midshipmen are required to adhere to the academy's Honor Concept.

1942 NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD PROMOTIONAL FILM NEW YORK CALLING NEW YORK CITY 55534
Produced by the Public Relations Department of the New York Central System and New York Central Railroad, the 1942 film New York Calling offers viewers a tour of all they can see in New York City by visiting via New York Central’s many lines that connect the country with the famed city. The film opens with a shot of the skyline of New York City (00:10), and then follows a modern and luxurious train as it follows the Hudson River (00:38), passing the highlands (00:52) with Breakneck and Storm King Mountains as well as West Point. Travelers play cards in the luxurious boxcars as the train leaves the Hudson and follows the Harlem River to Manhattan Island before diving into a tunnel under Park Avenue. Grand Central Terminal (02:11) hosts more than one-and-a-half million people every day; the Grand Central Zone boasts such famous landmarks as the Chrysler Building (02:36). The film’s “tour” of New York City begins on the lower end of Manhattan Island (02:55), with Old Trinity Church, Wall Street, and the bustling harbor—home to the iconic Statue of Liberty. A sightseeing yacht (04:40) is one of the best ways to see the city and its remarkable skylines as it leaves the harbor and heads up the East River. Passengers enjoy spectacular views of Midtown and New York Hospital. The yacht moves onto the Harlem River then onto the Hudson, passing under the George Washington Bridge (05:44). At Bowling Green, Broadway meanders through towering buildings and passes City Hall. At Washington Square and 5th Avenue, kids play in a water park. Men and women survey works of art on display at Greenwich Village (06:45). The tour continues with a visit to the observatory deck of the Empire State Building (07:25), the New York Public Library, and the world-renowned shopping of New York City. On 5th Avenue is the Rockefeller Center (08:28). “Centerettes” lead tours of Rockefeller Center, and visitors and take a behind-the-scenes tour of NBC (09:35). NO visit to the Rockefeller Center would be complete without a trip to Radio City Music Hall (09:54)—it is the largest theatre in the world and one of three in Rockefeller Center. The tour continues with visits to St. Patrick’s Cathedral (10:25), Central Park (11:00), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (11:09), Museum of the City of New York (11:52), the American Museum of Natural History, and the Hayden Planetarium. Moving up Riverside Drive, viewers are treated to Grant’s Tomb (13:09) and Columbia University (13:22). Farther uptown, visitors enjoy the New York Botanical Garden (14:06) and the New York Zoological Park, also known as the Bronx Zoo (14:58). The seemingly endless activities continue, as the whole family will have fun at Coney Island (16:38). The best of baseball is found in New York City, where games are played at historic stadiums, including Yankee Stadium (17:25). And no trip to New York City would be complete without a visit to Times Square (17:52), which is transformed at night by the glittering and glowing signs—a testament to New York’s status as the entertainment capital of the world. The film concludes with a return to Grand Central Terminal, the nexus of the New York Central Railroad system, one that provides safe and comfortable train cars for the most modern train-riding experience.

New York City Drive 4K - Chinatown - USA
Driving Downtown Neighborhoods - Chinatown - New York City New York USA - Episode 26.
Starting Point: . Neighborhood: .
Manhattan's Chinatown (曼哈顿华埠; 曼哈頓華埠) is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Chinatown is home to the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere. With an estimated population of 90,000 to 100,000 people, Manhattan's Chinatown is also one of the oldest Chinese ethnic enclaves. The Manhattan Chinatown is one of nine Chinatown neighborhoods in New York City, as well as one of twelve in the New York metropolitan area, which contains the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia, comprising an estimated 819,527 uniracial individuals as of 2014.
Historically, Chinatown was primarily populated by Cantonese speakers. However, in the 1980s-90s, large numbers of Fuzhounese-speaking immigrants also arrived and formed a sub-neighborhood annexed to the eastern portion of Chinatown, which has become known as Little Fuzhou (小福州). As many Fuzhounese and Cantonese speakers now speak Mandarin—the official language in China and Taiwan—in addition to their native languages, this made it more important for Chinatown residents to learn and speak Mandarin. Although now overtaken in size by the rapidly growing Flushing Chinatown (法拉盛華埠), located in the nearby borough of Queens – also within New York City – the Manhattan Chinatown remains a dominant cultural force for the Chinese diaspora, as home to the Museum of Chinese in America and as the headquarters of numerous publications based both in the U.S. and China that are geared to overseas Chinese.
Economy
Chinese greengrocers and fishmongers are clustered around Mott Street, Mulberry Street, Canal Street, and all along East Broadway. The Chinese jewelers' district is on Canal Street between Mott and Bowery. Due to the high savings rate among Chinese, there are many Asian and American banks in the neighborhood. Canal Street, west of Broadway (especially on the North side), is filled with street vendors selling knock-off brands of perfumes, watches, and handbags. This section of Canal Street was previously the home of warehouse stores selling surplus/salvage electronics and hardware.
In addition, tourism and restaurants are major industries. The district boasts many historical and cultural attractions, and it is a destination for tour companies like Big Onion, NYC Chinatown Tours, and Lower East Side History Project. Tour stops often include landmarks like the Church of the Transfiguration and the Lin Zexu and Confucius statues. The enclave’s many restaurants also support the tourism industry.
Buildings
The housing stock of Chinatown is still mostly composed of cramped tenement buildings, some of which are over 100 years old. It is still common in such buildings to have bathrooms in the hallways, to be shared among multiple apartments.

In 2000, most of Chinatown's residents came from Asia. That year, the number of residents was 84,840, and 66% of this people were Asian. Many population estimates are in the range of 90,000 to 100,000 residents.
Little Hong Kong
As the epicenter of the massive Fuzhou influx has shifted to Brooklyn in the 2000s, Manhattan's Chinatown's Cantonese population still remains viable and large and successfully continues to retain its stable Cantonese community identity, maintaining the communal gathering venue established decades ago in the western portion of Chinatown, to shop, work, and socialize.
Manhattan
Manhattan is the most densely populated borough of New York City, its economic and administrative center, and its historical birthplace.
Many districts and landmarks in Manhattan are well known, as New York City received a record 61 million tourists in 2016, and Manhattan hosts three of the world's 10 most-visited tourist attractions in 2013: Times Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Terminal. The borough hosts many prominent bridges, such as the Brooklyn Bridge; skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building; and parks, such as Central Park. Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, and the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, part of the Stonewall National Monument, is considered the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. The City of New York was founded at the southern tip of Manhattan, and the borough houses New York City Hall, the seat of the city's government. Numerous colleges and universities are located in Manhattan, including Columbia University, New York University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top 40 in the world.
New York City 4K - Morning Drive - Queens - Driving Downtown
Friday morning drive in the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world. Video focuses on the Astoria and Ditmars Steinway neighborhoods in Queens New York City.
Queens is the easternmost of the five boroughs of New York City. It is the largest borough geographically and is adjacent to the borough of Brooklyn at the southwestern end of Long Island. To its east is Nassau County. Queens also shares water borders with the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx. Coterminous with Queens County since 1899, the borough of Queens is the second largest in population (after Brooklyn), with an estimated 2,358,582 residents in 2017, approximately 48% of them foreign-born. Queens County also is the second most populous county in the U.S. state of New York, behind Brooklyn, which is coterminous with Kings County. Queens is the fourth most densely populated county among New York City's boroughs, as well as in the United States. If each of New York City's boroughs were an independent city, Queens would be the nation's fourth most populous, after Los Angeles, Chicago, and Brooklyn. Queens is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world.
Queens has the most diversified economy of the five boroughs of New York City. It is home to John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, both among the world's busiest, which in turn makes the airspace above Queens among the busiest in the United States. Landmarks in Queens include Flushing Meadows–Corona Park; Citi Field, home to the New York Mets baseball team; the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, site of the US Open tennis tournament; Kaufman Astoria Studios; Silvercup Studios; and Aqueduct Racetrack. The borough has diverse housing, ranging from high-rise apartment buildings in the urban areas of western and central Queens, such as Jackson Heights, Flushing, Astoria, and Long Island City, to somewhat more suburban neighborhoods in the eastern part of the borough, including Douglaston–Little Neck and Bayside.
