Lau Fau Shan 流浮山 | Hong Kong for Kids
Lau Fau Shan is one of the most famous places in Hong Kong for seafood dining. Different from other Seafood market attractions like Sai Kung, Lau Fau Shan has its own unique style. It was really a special experience to trail along the one and only main and narrow road and get all your senses stimulated by the special items sold at the local shops. At the end of the road, we were mesmerised by the spectacular view at the pier. Better come before the sun set!

Lau Fau Shan in Hong Kong
Lau Fau Shan is located in the northwesten side of Hong Kong where famous for seafood trading and seafood resturant. Along the main road you can find smaller shops selling sun dried seafood and traditional Chinese snacks. Around this area used to be small villages but now all you can find is the storage place for container.
Hong Kong Buses - MTR K65 to Lau Fau Shan
We ride the K65 service from end to end, Yuen Long to Lau Fau Shan. As far as I am aware, this service started as KMB's 24 in 1961, becoming 55 in 1973. In 1988, this was one of several routes compulsorily transferred from KMB to KCRC as part of the introduction of the Transit Service Area, an area monopoly designed to protect the new LRT system from bus competition, and it was renumbered 655. It remained 655 until, I believe, the MTR merger in 2007.
We travel on 142, an ADL Enviro 400, one of a batch of nine 70-seaters delivered in August 2012.
At Lau Fau Shan, we walk quickly through the famous wet market (not a busy time) and take in views of Deep Bay (as it is traditionally known) and the Shenzhen Bay Bridge connecting Hong Kong with the PRC, which was officially opened in July 2007.
We finish by riding back to Tin Shui Wai station, where we see a couple of MTR's Enviro 200s (new in 2008/9), as well as a number of double deckers parked up in the little-used bus station there. Probably the most interesting is 227, a Northern Counties-bodied Volvo Olympian originally purchased by KCRC, which is one of the oldest vehicles in the MTR bus fleet, dating from 1997.
You can see more of my visit to this area in my Yuen Long and Tuen Mun videos.
Filmed 29th April 2014.

Lau Fau Shan is an area in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It is at the shore of Deep Bay, near Tin Shui Wai and facing Shekou in Shenzhen, China. It is traditionally famous for fresh oysters.
About 100 tons were harvested every year, some for consumption in Hong Kong restaurants and some for export to neighboring countries. However, little remains of this today since most of the inhabitants of Lau Fau Shan have given up oyster culture.

My Lau Fau Shan Adventure
Visiting Hong Kong's oyster capital and overlooking South China.
Lau Fau Shan, Yuen Long, Hong Kong.

A Kai Shan, Yuen Long, Hong Kong.
Camera: GoPro & Sony a5000
A Kai Shan is located at Yuen Long, northwest of New Territories in Hong Kong. With an altitude of 121m, A Kai Shan separates Yuen Long Industrial Estate and Tin Shui Wai New Town. Standing on top of the hill, hikers can see hundreds of fishponds around Nam Sang Wai, Mai Po Nature Reserve and Shenzhen in China. There are lots of family graves on the hill, where tourists can experience local villagers’ ritual towards death in the past.
