Urban Hiking in the Heart of Portland, Oregon - 2019
January 12, 2019
Today marks the 12th day of our 365 page challenge/book, where we are trying to stay active for a healthy lifestyle change for 2019!
Follow our 365 day journey on Instagram @bitcoinkev
We started our journey in Hillsboro, OR where we parked our car at a park and ride, and caught the MAX/Train to downtown Portland. We got off at the Skidmore Fountain stop. From there we walked toward the river and soon came upon the Waterfront Park Trail. We headed North towards the Steel Bridge on the mostly flat bike/run/walk path. We crossed the Steel Bridge and continued following the path, now going south towards the Tilikum Bridge which you can't miss... Bridge of the People is a cable-stayed bridge only used by Street cars, public transportation, bikers, runners, and even us walkers. We continued our loop and headed north again along the waterfront until we jetted west into the city downtown to grab a quick bite.
We had to make a quick stop into Pioneer Place mall to check out the Bitcoin ATM and Maria needed to pick up some perfume. We then made a trek to one of our favorite sushi spots Sakura Sushi on SW 6th and Washington (great Happy Hour all day on the weekends).
We hope you enjoyed the video, and hopefully we inspired you to get out there and keep moving!

2015 Portland Fall Classic. Put on by: Station L Rowing Club. Willamette Rive near OMSI Portland, Oregon.
Club History
Rowing has a long history in Portland, and competitive rowing was a popular local spectator sport in the 19th century. For several decades beginning in the 1930’s there were no active rowing clubs in Portland, and Willamette River was deemed by many as too dirty for water sports.
Station L Rowing Club was founded in 1972 by a group of former college rowers who were surprised to find a great setting for rowing on the newly cleaned up Willamette, but very few active rowers. At the club’s 2008 gala and auction, a plaque was unveiled honoring the twenty-eight founding members of Station L Rowing Club....

SW Portland's urban trails make a big difference in people's lives, says Don
Don really likes SW Portland's SW Trails for transportation and recreation. It's one of the things that sets Portland apart from other cities.
Southwest Portland's urban trails are a combination of existing roads, sidewalks, stairs, trails and walkways. They provide marked routes for going east-west and north-south through SW Portland.

All week we're celebrating Portland's award-winning transportation network in honor of the opening of Tilikum Crossing: Bridge of the People - the largest car-free bridge in the United States. As the latest addition to our cityscape here in Bridgetown, Tilikum Crossing will carry the Portland Streetcar, the MAX Orange Line, TriMet busses and cyclists and pedestrians.
