【4K】Afternoon Walk at Sai Kung Hong Kong - Seafood restaurants at Sai Kung Town Centre
Walking at Sai Kung, recognized the back garden of Hong Kong.
Date: 5 Oct 2019
The second-largest area in Hong Kong in terms of landmass, Sai Kung is dubbed the “back garden of Hong Kong”, known for its fishing villages, beautiful scenery, hiking trails, beaches and islands, geological formations and low-key lifestyle. Most of the action is concentrated in Sai Kung Town Centre, where fishermen sell fresh catches from their boats just off the pier, diners feast on finger-licking seafood dishes, and locals go about their day-to-day lives. In summer, expect to see groups gathered at the pier waiting to board boats for a quintessential Hong Kong experience — a junk trip.

ULTRA HD 4K HONG KONG SHARP ISLAND SAI KUNG | KIU TSUI CHAU | 橋咀洲
#sharpisland #saikung #橋咀洲 #hongkong #discoverhongkong
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Sharp Island in Sai Kung, also known as Kiu Tsui Chau 橋咀洲. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
'Sharp Island or Kiu Tsui Chau (Chinese: 橋咀洲) is the largest island in the Kiu Tsui Country Park located at Port Shelter of Sai Kung, Hong Kong.[1] Tourists go there for BBQ activities, fishing, swimming as well as diving. Sharp Island is under the administration of Sai Kung District.
The island has a maximum elevation of 136 m and an area of 1 km².[2] The two beaches Half Moon Bay Beach (廈門灣泳灘), also known as Hap Mun Bay, and Kiu Tsui Beach (橋咀泳灘) are located on the island.[1] Both are managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.[3]
When the predicted tides at Ko Lau Wan is lower than or equal to +1.40 meter, visitors can go to an inshore islet named Kiu Tau (橋頭) on foot. For more details, please visit the Hong Kong Observatory website [1].
Different kind of volcanic rocks can be found on Sharp Island. The most frequent ones are rocks with a peculiar pattern on the surface. Other rocks have an unusual pineapple shaped form.
It is believed that about 140 million years ago a volcano was located in Sai Kung. Sharp Island was according to that on the margin of the caldera. This is probably the reason for the widely distributed different volcanic rocks from different geological periods around Sharp Island.'

ULTRA HD 4K HONG KONG WALKING TOUR - SAI KUNG TOWN 西貢市 | RAINY
#walk #walking #4kwalking #hongkong #discoverhongkong
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Sai Kung Town 西貢市. This is a rainy walk. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
'Sai Kung Town (Chinese: 西貢市) or simply Sai Kung (Chinese: 西貢) is a town on Sai Kung Peninsula, facing Sai Kung Hoi (Inner Port Shelter), part of Sai Kung District in the New Territories, Hong Kong. Sai Kung is the centre of the surrounding villages, and hence the name may refer to the areas in its immediate surroundings.
The name “Sai Kung” dated back to the early days of the Ming Dynasty. The Ming court had sent officer Zheng He and his fleets to sail to the Western oceans seven times during 1405-1433. After these voyages, many boats from countries in East Asia, Middle East, and East Africa started paying tribute to and developing trade with the Ming court. At the time, Sai Kung was the port of the boats from the West. As time passed, it was called “Sai Kung” which means “tributes from the West” in Chinese.[1]
Sai Kung Hoi was a fishing harbour and fishermen still gather there. The harbour is now a typhoon shelter, where motorized junks used in the local tourist trade are moored. They are boats that can be hired for fishing and swimming trips.
Sai Kung town underwent significant expansion during the 1970s when the High Island Reservoir and associated water schemes required some villagers and fishermen to be rehoused in Sai Kung. This provided a core of government-funded new development, both housing and commercial, in the town centre. This was followed by the Tui Min Hoi (literally 'over the harbour') development under the government's market town programme.[citation needed]
Before the relocation of the airport of Hong Kong from Kai Tak to Chek Lap Kok, the town was a popular residential area for airport staff from all over the world.[citation needed].'
