Shek O Hong Kong footage
The name Shek O literally means the rocky bay. The entire area is a peninsula on the southern coast of the Hong Kong Island, facing the South China Sea. Shek O is surrounded by Shek O Country Park, Big Wave Bay and Cape D'Aguilar.

Shek O Beach, one of the most popular beaches on Hong Kong Island. Shielded away from all the skyscrapers, Shek O offers an amazing getaway for those living on the island.
The Shek O peninsula consists of 3 beaches - Shek O, Shek O Back Beach, Big Wave Bay Beach.
Enjoy this gorgeous sunny day at Shek O beach through a bird's eye view. Feast your eyes on the rocky shores, which is what Shek O means, of Shek O.

Shek O - Hong Kong Island
Hong Kong is not associated normally with experiencing a wild seashore nature and still less of being a freediving spot. But it is there, on the seaside of Hong Kong Island, there is a small village Shek O, just about 25 min buss ride from the Hong Kong Central area. Hard to believe that you are that close to this kind of mega-city. And the water visibility is usually good enough for a great freediving experience.
Dragon's Back walk, Shek O, Hong Kong, China
This is a 6 mile walk that begins at the bus stop on the Shek O road above To Tei Wan village.
Firstly is a climb to reach what is the Dragon's Back, a path following the tops of the hills north.
At Pottinger Gap I headed eastwards to Big Wave Bay.
The last part of the walk is a bit of road walking that goes through a large golf course before finishing at Shek O.
Both the start and finish of this walk have bus stops to get to Shau Kei Wan MTR station from there it is easy to get back to Central Hong Kong.

My Sweet and Sour Life (Jason’s Channel):
I am a British Citizen living and working in China. Huizhou, Guangdong in Southern China. Conquering the Middle Kingdom and sharing my experience with all of you.
My Story: after leaving University to almost zero job prospects in my field, I decided I wanted to travel the world. With hardly any cash I found the best option would be to live and work. Armed with a TEFL certificate and a bag full of clothes I moved to the Middle Kingdom. I liked it so much here I settled down, found a girlfriend and have been here for two years. I now plan to travel China year by year in a new city.

Chinese New Year 2010 in Shek O, Hong Kong
Here's a short video of the lion dance ceremony held last night, the eve of Chinese New Year, at the Tin Hau temple in our village in Shek O, Hong Kong - and two small shrines near the temple.
This is not a parade or a tourist show. Shek O is one of the few traditional villages left on Hong Kong island, or in all of Hong Kong at this point.
This video footage, shot by Reuben and edited by me, lets you see and hear the lion ceremony but I wish you could also smell it. The air is thick with incense and candles.
This lion ceremony is organized by the local village association and is taken very seriously by this community. Fortunately for those of us living here (our house is four doors from this temple), foreigners are welcome not only to attend this ceremony but also to get a blessing from the lion in our home. The lion and the entourage will travel through the village over the next three days, visiting each house.
ASIA EP 26: Surfing in Shek O, Hong Kong and getting Dim Sum
BACKPACKING ASIA EPISODE 26 (2/2/2019)
We wake up and meet Jeff at Shau Kei Wan station to catch the minibus to get to Big Wave Bay in Shek O to go surfing! It's Thomas' first time surfing as well, so double win. We get some grub on the way, and then arrive.
It's a cute lil surf shop that rents out a board and wetsuit for 70 HKD for the day, great price. The place also sells food and drink for the perfect post surf recovery.
Total, we surf for about 4 hours that day (including photoshoot time of course), and then get grub. It takes a couple hours to get back home before we bounce yet again for dim sum with four couchsurfers around town that Thomas rounded together with a couchsurf hangout event. Here, we meet Igor, Josh, Lars, and Jonathan, which we'll see in later episodes.
We pop over to another event hosted by Gus which has a bunch of other couchsurfers drinking at a bar called Oasis.
