Portland - City Video Guide
Portland, Oregon, is located in the Northwestern United States, where the Willamette and Columbia Rivers meet.
Portland is sometime called 'Beervana', because of its large number of microbreweries. The Willemette Valley, meanwhile, is an excellent wine-growing region.
At the heart of Portland is the amphitheater on Pioneer Courthouse Square. The Portland Art Museum here is the oldest museum in the region. The Tom McCall Waterside Park is a good spot for people-watching. Several bridges give access to the east bank, where the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is located.
Portland's climate is ideal for growing roses, showcased in the International Rose Test Garden. The nearby Japanese Garden is one of the most authentic outside of Asia. Washington Park offers lush gardens and trails. Oregon Zoo is a family favorite. Opposite this is the Portland Children's Museum.
Benson Bridge provides the best vantage point for the stunning Multnomah Falls. Viewing points around the National Volcanic Monument show off the active Mount St Helens.

Japanese Gardens and Chinese Gardens - Portland, Oregon Attractions
The Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon has a lot of different types of plants. Indoor plants, outdoor plants and to be honest they look like some of the best indoor plants I have seen. The koi fish pond they have has many types of koi fish and I get really close to them with the camera in the video. You will also see many waterfalls as you stroll though the garden.
This was my first time visiting Portland, Oregon and seeing a Japanese garden. I can’t wait to visit Portland again for some good coffee and comedy as well. I have never been more at peace in my entire life and felt like I have already retired. Don't miss out on the pleasant adventure you can bring the whole family to!

Children's Museum of Richmond Celebrates National Reading Month
March is National Reading Month and children across the United States as well as Richmond are being encouraged to read more often. To help with the cause the Children's Museum of Richmond has come up with a creative way to make children learn to love to read. They offered a daily character story time everyday at noon where different characters from the children's books coming to visit. Kate Dolphin Reports.

Iraq War: Fighter Pilot POV - Inside Edition (2003)
Go inside the cockpit of an F/A-18C Hornet.
In 2003, during the buildup to the “War in Iraq” - I was flown to the Persian Gulf and landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier in the United States Navy.
President Bush had just given Saddam Hussein “48-hours notice” to leave Iraq or be removed by force.
“Operation Shock and Awe” was about to be launched by US forces including Strike Fighter Squadron 113 (VFA-113) aka: the “Stingers”.
These guys are literally the best of the best as they say in the movie “Top Gun”.
In the video, you see what it’s like from the point-of-view of a pilot flying an F/A-18C Hornet. The POV video is incredible but still only a glimpse of what these guys are capable of doing.
For those that want the F/A-18 specs... it’s an impressive single-seat, supersonic aircraft that delivers a wide range of advance precision guided missiles and bombs.
The F/A- 18C Hornet’s weapon system also includes heat-seeking Sidewinder missiles and a 20mm cannon mounted in the nose of the plane.
Special thanks to Commander Bill Dooris for allowing the POV camera in the cockpit of his aircraft and also to his brother Pat Dooris from KGW-TV (NBC) in Portland, Oregon for allowing us to tell his story.

(5 Jun 2017) Thousands of demonstrators and counter protesters converged in downtown Portland, Oregon, on Sunday, a day marked by multiple arrests and clashes between police and protesters.
A pro-President Donald Trump free speech rally drew several hundred to a plaza near City Hall more than a week after two Portland men were fatally stabbed trying to stop a man from shouting anti-Muslim insults at two teenage girls on a light-rail train.
That rally was met across the street by hundreds of counter-protesters organized by immigrant rights, religious and labor groups. They said they wanted to make a stand against hate and racism.
Portland police said Sunday evening that 14 people were arrested, and several dozen knives, bricks, sticks and other weapons were seized.
By late afternoon, police closed nearby Chapman Square where a separate group of protesters - many wearing masks and black clothing and identified as anti-fascists - also demonstrated. Police used flash-bang grenades and pepper balls to disperse that crowd after saying protesters were hurling bricks and other objects at officers.
After several dozen demonstrators began marching north of the initial rally locations, police officers moved in and blocked them. They detained a large crowd in the street, including several journalists.
People identified as participating in criminal activity would be arrested, police said. Everyone else was eventually released after officers took photographs of their identification.
Walking into to the museum opening to the public Saturday in the author and illustrator's hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts, is like walking into one of his beloved children's books.
The museum dedicated to Theodor Geisel - who under the pen name Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated dozens of rhyming children's books including The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham - features interactive exhibits, artwork never before displayed publicly and explains how his childhood experiences in the city about 90 miles (145 kilometers) west of Boston shaped his work.
Examples of Geisel's early advertising work and World War II-era propaganda and political illustrations that critics consider racist are conspicuously absent, but that's because the museum is aimed primarily at children, said Kay Simpson, president of the Springfield Museums complex.
The organization has in the past hosted exhibits of Geisel's wartime work, she said.
But by not referencing Geisel's wartime work, which often stereotyped the Japanese, the museum is telling only half the story, said Katie Ishizuka, who has written on Geisel's work.
They don't acknowledge the full picture of him or they try to minimize that or sweep it under the rug, said Ishizuka, director of The Conscious Kid Library, which lends what she says are more diverse and appropriate books for young readers.
Richard Minear, a professor emeritus of Japanese history at the University of Massachusetts, who wrote Dr. Seuss Goes to War about his political illustrations, says Geisel certainly had a blind spot on race, but it's not fair to judge his entire career on that work.
He matured and he developed a whole lot from those early years, Minear said, noting that Horton Hears a Who! was an allegory about post-war Japan and the nation's relationship with the U.S.
