List of tallest buildings in Portland, Oregon
This list of tallest buildings in Portland, Oregon ranks skyscrapers in the U.S. city of Portland, Oregon. The tallest building in Portland is currently the 41-story Wells Fargo Center, which rises 546 feet. The building has been the tallest skyscraper in the State of Oregon since its completion in 1972. The second-tallest building in Portland is the US Bancorp Tower, which rises 536 feet and 42 floors. The building is sometimes informally referred to as 'Big Pink' for its similarly colored granite exterior.
Portland's history of skyscrapers is generally thought to begin in 1907 with the completion of the Wells Fargo Building. Since then, over 100 highrise buildings have been constructed in the city, with the majority being completed between 1970 and 2000. No Portland buildings are among the tallest in the United States, but the city is home to four buildings over 500 feet. Overall, Portland's skyline is ranked tall second in the Northwest, fifth in the Pacific Coast region, and 25th in the United States.
The city is undergoing an era of highrise construction, especially in the South Waterfront area, where several residential towers and an office building have been built over the past few years, including the John Ross Tower. More residential buildings will be built close to the Willamette River as development of the South Waterfront progresses. Meanwhile, in Downtown Portland, Park Avenue West Tower, a 30-story skyscraper, restarted construction in 2012 and is now almost completed. At 501 feet, Park Avenue West will become the fourth-tallest building in the city upon completion.
This list ranks Portland skyscrapers that stand at least 250 feet tall, based on standard height measurement. This includes spires and architectural details but does not include antenna masts. An equal sign following a rank indicates the same height between two or more buildings. The 'Year' column indicates the year in which a building was completed.
This lists skyscrapers that are under construction in Portland and planned to rise over 250 feet.
* Table entries without text indicate that information regarding building dates of completion has not yet been released.
This lists buildings that once held the title of tallest building in Portland.
The 194-foot height of the 1892 Oregonian Building includes a corner tower with two floors of office space and a clock in the uppermost portion. The Wells Fargo Building was the tallest building in 1907–1911 only if this tower is excluded from the Oregonian Building's measurement.

Accessory Dwelling Units in Portland, Oregon
The video begins at 0:29.

Jordan Palmeri, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Green Building Program
Friday, November 14, 2014
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are booming in Portland, Oregon. ADUs are small separate living units on single family lots that are often called granny flats or mother-in-law units. Over the last few years, fee waivers from the City of Portland have increased ADU development from 30 units per year to over 200 units. These discreet forms of density can offer a variety of environmental, social, and economic benefits to ADU owners and their communities. Many of these benefits, however, have always been speculated rather than substantiated by data.
In an effort to better understand the real impact or benefit of this housing form, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and partners conducted a survey of ADU owners in Portland, Eugene, and Ashland, Oregon. This was the largest survey of ADUs owners ever conducted in the United States and the results have significant utility in policy for Oregon cities and beyond.
This presentation will present the results of survey and highlight topics such as ADU affordability, environmental impact, occupant demographics, owner demographics, community economic impact, and car ownership and parking statistics. Attendees will gain knowledge of ADU development trends and learn about how ADUs contribute to our communities.

A #Portland #vacation means plenty of parks, fountains, and buildings old and new to explore. Be warned, this city is known for its sudden showers, so make sure you bring an umbrella to shield yourself until the sun makes a triumphant return.
If you like a good brew, you’re going to love Portland’s alter-ego, Beervana – so named thanks to all the breweries located here. Wine snobs, don’t despair; you’ll find plenty to drink (responsibly) in the Willamette Valley while you continue your Portland #sightseeing.
Don’t forget to stop by the Oregon Zoo, home to eagles, bobcats, and a ton of other feathered, furry, and scaled critters. Travelers with children will also love the Portland Children’s Museum, where the little ones can learn from and play with interactive exhibits.

Forest to Frame: Two Mass Timber Buildings in Portland, Oregon
The 2016 Mass Timber Conference was produced by Forest Business Network and WoodWorks.
Mass timber construction can be a catalyst for connecting urban expansion to the economic well being of our Northwestern rural communities. Completed mass timber projects in Europe, Canada, and Australia demonstrate the feasibility of the technology and the environmental benefits have been well documented. The challenge faced by the design and construction community in the United States is translating this system of building into realizable projects locally. In addition to the regulatory hurdles and required performance testing, we need to rethink the way we design mass timber buildings that connects forest management, sourcing and local manufacturing.
LEVER Architecture’s founder Thomas Robinson will share lessons learned in the design and realization of two new cross-laminated timber (CLT) projects in Portland — Albina Yard, the first domestically-produced CLT office building in the United States currently under construction in North Portland; and Framework, a 12-story CLT high-rise project which was awarded a $1.5 m grant in the U.S. Tall Wood Building Competition, scheduled to start construction in October 2016.
