Hereford is a cathedral city, civil parish and county town of Herefordshire, England. It lies on the River Wye, approximately 16 miles east of the border with Wales, 24 miles southwest of Worcester, and 23 miles northwest of Gloucester.
The name Hereford is said to come from the Anglo-Saxon here, an army or formation of soldiers, and the ford, a place for crossing a river. If this is the origin it suggests that Hereford was a place where a body of armed men forded or crossed the Wye. The Welsh name for Hereford is Henffordd, meaning old road, and probably refers to the Roman road and Roman settlement at nearby Stretton Sugwas. Much of the county of Herefordshire was Welsh-speaking, as reflected in the Welsh names of many places in the county (see History of Herefordshire).
An early town charter from 1189 granted by Richard I of England describes it as Hereford in Wales. Hereford has been recognised as a city since time immemorial, with the status being reconfirmed as recently as October 2000.
Hereford is served by a 4-platform railway station on the Welsh Marches Line which opened in 1854. Services regularly connect to Worcester, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Cardiff and other settlements in Wales. The station is currently operated by Arriva Trains Wales. A second station, Hereford Barton, was closed and later redeveloped. A new station is proposed for construction in the government-designated Enterprise zone in Rotherwas, south of the River Wye.

Entertainment at a garden party - a festival held outdoors in a park. Opens CU pan on a silly band; men dressed up in tuxedos; top hats; and playing what looks like some crazy sounding music: man clanging cymbals together non-stop; 2 drummers banging away; a man switching between a bugle or cornet and some long skinny horn.
A dancing camel - 2 people inside a camel costume; the front person doing high kicks like a chorus line but messier. People standing about in park. Several soldiers and entertainers pose for picture - woman in little ruffled dress; another woman in harlequin pants;etc. . These people start throwing something - soldiers really getting into it.
CU 2 little girls about age 3 or 4 sitting on back of pony or donkey (animal's head not in frame) - the back one w/ arm round the front kid - very cute. Then shot of some ladies and men on a platform; the women - all in white suits w/ wide brimmed hats - are standing around bass drum and cymbal; banging on them; man is winding some small thing; like pencil sharpener? Back to CU the kids on the pony.

Dartmoor: Busride - The Hound of the Baskervilles - ponies, cattle, sheep. The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Originally serialised in The Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigate the case. This was the first appearance of Holmes since his intended death in The Final Problem, and the success of The Hound of the Baskervilles led to the character's eventual revival.
In 2003, the book was listed as number 128 of 200 on the BBC's The Big Read poll of the UK's best-loved novel. In 1999, it was listed as the top Holmes novel, with a perfect rating from Sherlockian scholars of 100. Dartmoor is an area of moorland in southern Devon, England. Protected by National Park status as Dartmoor National Park, it covers 954 square kilometres (368 sq mi).The granite which forms the uplands dates from the Carboniferous Period of geological history. The moorland is capped with many exposed granite hilltops known as tors, providing habitats for Dartmoor wildlife. The highest point is High Willhays, 621 m (2,037 ft) above sea level. The entire area is rich in antiquities and archaeology.
Dartmoor is managed by the Dartmoor National Park Authority, whose 22 members are drawn from Devon County Council, local district councils and Government.
Parts of Dartmoor have been used as military firing ranges for over 200 years. The public are granted extensive land access rights on Dartmoor (including restricted access to the firing ranges) and it is a popular tourist destination.
