Ting Kau Bridge is a 1,177-metre (3,862 ft) long cable-stayed bridge in Hong Kong that spans from the northwest of Tsing Yi Island and Tuen Mun Road.[1] It is near the Tsing Ma Bridge which also serves as a major connector between the Hong Kong International Airport on Lantau Island and the rest of Hong Kong. It was completed on May 5, 1998.[2] The bridge is toll-free.
The bridge is part of Route 3, connecting Northwest New Territories with Hong Kong Island. Other major structures on the road include the Tai Lam Tunnel, the Cheung Tsing Tunnel, the Cheung Tsing Bridge and the Western Harbour Crossing. The Ting Kau Bridge carries the heaviest traffic volume of the bridges on the Lantau Link, with many container trucks travelling between mainland China and the HK container port. A chromatic study and specially designed architectural lighting are intended to set the bridge off in its surroundings.

A serious traffic congestion lasted for hours on the Lantau Link this morning. This happened on the first working day since a two-way toll collection system was introduced for the trunk route to the airport and Tung Chung. A number of toll booths were not in operation at the time of the congestion.
Today is the first working day since the Lantau Link adopted the two-way toll collection system, and the traffic condition did not look good this morning. Airport-bound traffic almost came to a standstill. The long lines of vehicles stretched all the way from the toll plaza to Tsing Ma Bridge and even Ting Kau Bridge. Starting at 8:35 a.m., Kowloon-bound lanes at the Tai Lam Tunnel had to be intermittently closed to reduce the number of vehicles heading for Tuen Mun Road and Ting Kau Bridge. The measure lasted about 90 minutes. The Transport Department also urged the public going to the airport or Tung Chung to use non-road-based transportation such as the MTR. Traffic condition went back to normal at around midday. One major cause of the traffic congestion was an insufficient number of toll booths in operation at the Lantau Link toll plaza this morning. There are 13 such booths for the airport-bound traffic, but only six were in service, with two assigned for autotoll users. For the other seven toll booths, works are being carried out on five of them, and the other two were left unused. Chan Han-pan, who chairs the Legislative Council's Transport Panel, took a first-hand look at the traffic jam today. He urged the government to suspend the two-way collection system for the time being.
[CG :E-Name+TltleCHAN HAN-PAN, LegcoN.T. West (DAB)] I cannot find any way that they can alleviate the traffic jam tomorrow. Although they recommended to open two more lanes tomorrow, but I think this still cannot solve the problem. I hope they can persuade me to believe their arrangement. {VO} Meanwhile, the government insists this evening that the opening of two extra booths should be enough to alleviate the situation.
[CG :E-Name+TltleMACELLA LEEActing Commissioner for Transport] Actually, the traffic flow this morning was similar to what's happening in all other days, and it's within our estimation. We have already increased two manual toll lanes, from four to six. According to the traffic flow in normal circumstances, it should have been able to cope with the demand.
The two-way collection system was introduced yesterday in line with the expected completion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge late this year.

The Longest Bridge We've Ever Passed Thru Yet! Tsing Ma Bridge, Hong KOng 2018
Tsing Ma Bridge is a bridge in Hong Kong. It is the world's 11th-longest span suspension bridge, and was the second longest at time of completion. The bridge was named after two of the islands at its ends, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. It has two decks and carries both road and rail traffic, which also makes it the largest suspension bridge of this type. The bridge has a main span of 1,377 metres (4,518 ft) and a height of 206 metres (676 ft). The span is the longest of all bridges in the world carrying rail traffic.
The 41-metre-wide (135 ft) bridge deck carries six lanes of automobile traffic, with three lanes in each direction. The lower level contains two rail tracks and two sheltered carriageways used for maintenance access and traffic lanes when particularly severe typhoons strike Hong Kong and the bridge deck is closed to traffic.
