University of Miami Campus Tour | Coral Gables, FL // Travel Vlogs
HOPE YOU ENJOY! I recently had the opportunity to travel to Miami for summer vacation, and since I've been looking at the University of Miami, I decided to participate in a campus tour and information session. If you have a lot of different interests, I highly suggest checking it out! Instead of doing basics as a freshman, they've implemented a cognate system, where you can choose whatever classes you're interested in from three subjects: STEM, People & Society, and Arts & Humanities (your major automatically fulfills one). Since I'm majoring in Pre-Med, but also love Psychology and Film, this system is perfect for me! I had a great time and the campus is beautiful! Go hurricanes!

Places to see in ( Miami - USA )
Places to see in ( Miami - USA )
Miami, officially the City of Miami, is the cultural, economic and financial center of South Florida. Miami is the seat of Miami-Dade County, the most populous county in Florida. Miami is split into many different sections, roughly into North, South, West and Downtown. The heart of the city is Downtown Miami and is technically on the eastern side of the city. This area includes Brickell, Virginia Key, Watson Island, and PortMiami. Downtown is South Florida's central business district, and Florida's largest and most influential central business district. Downtown has the largest concentration of international banks in the U.S. along Brickell Avenue. Downtown is home to many major banks, courthouses, financial headquarters, cultural and tourist attractions, schools, parks and a large residential population. East of Downtown, across Biscayne Bay is South Beach. Just northwest of Downtown, is the Civic Center, which is Miami's center for hospitals, research institutes and biotechnology with hospitals such as Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami VA Hospital, and the University of Miami's Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.
The southern side of Miami includes Coral Way, The Roads and Coconut Grove. Coral Way is a historic residential neighborhood built in 1922 connecting Downtown with Coral Gables, and is home to many old homes and tree-lined streets. Coconut Grove was established in 1825 and is the location of Miami's City Hall in Dinner Key, the Coconut Grove Playhouse, CocoWalk, many nightclubs, bars, restaurants and bohemian shops, and as such, is very popular with local college students. It is a historic neighborhood with narrow, winding roads, and a heavy tree canopy. Coconut Grove has many parks and gardens such as Villa Vizcaya, The Kampong, The Barnacle Historic State Park, and is the home of the Coconut Grove Convention Center and numerous historic homes and estates.
The western side of Miami includes Little Havana, West Flagler, and Flagami, and is home to many of the city's traditionally immigrant neighborhoods. Although at one time a mostly Jewish neighborhood, today western Miami is home to immigrants from mostly Central America and Cuba, while the west central neighborhood of Allapattah is a multicultural community of many ethnicities.
The northern side of Miami includes Midtown, a district with a great mix of diversity with many West Indians, Hispanics, European Americans, bohemians, and artists. Edgewater, and Wynwood, are neighborhoods of Midtown and are made up mostly of high-rise residential towers and are home to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The wealthier residents usually live in the northeastern part, in Midtown, the Design District, and the Upper East Side, with many sought after 1920s homes and home of the MiMo Historic District, a style of architecture originated in Miami in the 1950s. The northern side of Miami also has notable African American and Caribbean immigrant communities such as Little Haiti, Overtown (home of the Lyric Theater), and Liberty City.

Venetian Pool Historic Hideaway in Coral Gables, Florida | Travel and Leisure
Join me for a relaxing swim as I slow down, soak in, and relax in the Venetian Pool historic hideaway with soothing waterfalls, hidden grotto, and Instagram worthy bridges.
What makes this pool so special? It is made entirely from coral rock, (marine limestone), and it is filled with natural spring water from a nearby aquifer and is reportedly close to 80 degrees in this lush tropical hideaway. This is the largest freshwater pool in the United States.
Built in 1923 in the Mediterranean Revival style inspired by Spanish, Italian, and Venetian architecture. Located in the charming Miami suburb of Coral Gables, this architectural influence is found throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.
The children’s play area is only 2 feet deep, with more areas for 3-4 foot depth. The deep end starts at 5 feet and gets as deep as 8 feet below the waterfall.
In decades past, the pool was drained completely for scheduled performances by the Miami Symphony, taking advantage of the quarry's natural acoustic qualities.
The small parking lot fills up quickly. If you are staying nearby, it may be possible to walk, or some hotels offer complementary bikes for riding around the town of Coral Gables. Lyft and Uber are also great options to reach the pool.
No food or drinks allowed near the pool, but there is a small food court and seating area for snacks and beverages.
The Venetian Pool is the perfect place to relax and refresh after enjoying the Miami nightlife.

Luxury Waterfront Estate - 9405 Old Cutler Ln, Coral Gables, FL
Journey's End - Coral Gables, FL
How often does every facet of an estate and its surroundings offer a resort-style experience in a world-class location? No other waterfront community in Miami boasts the exclusivity of just 18 estate homes surrounded by mature landscaping and native vegetation, on private streets secured by a guard-gated entrance. You may not have heard of Journey's End, because only a privileged few can call this oasis home, but this is the ideal setting for the family who has exacting standards of excellence with no need to compromise. The drive to the estate over a small bridge flanked by one of the largest banyan trees you've ever seen is inspiring and leads one to dream of what is behind the handsome entry. As the front doors open, a foyer with a grand chandelier and 28-foot ceilings opens to a formal living room with 30-foot tall ceilings and the first glimpse of the impeccable backyard.
Once outside, the perfectly manicured gardens permeate the scenery, and are complemented by a babbling brook, a resort-style pool with waterfall bridge, a sophisticated cabana with gourmet summer kitchen, bathroom and over-sized spa, and private lawn, all of which are bordered by a tropical canal that leads to Biscayne Bay. Truly, the feeling that you are strolling the grounds of your own five-star resort is inescapable. While the canal does not support a large vessel, the estate comes with a deeded boat slip allowing up to a 60-foot yacht.
While the residence is large, the floor plan is well-designed and allows the beautiful surroundings of nature to infuse the indoor spaces with light and beautiful views. A kitchen that opens to an informal dining room and family room allows a large family to be together in comfort. For elegant dinner parties, the residence offers a second, formal dining room. A sun room off of the living room offers the broadest views of the backyard. Two downstairs wet bars, including one in a library lounge offers plenty of variety for entertaining. Across the hall from the library lounge is a home cinema. Take the elevator or the stairs to the second floor where a split plan finds the master suite set away from the other bedrooms. A massive master suite offers a comfy sitting area, huge dual custom closets and a great bathroom with his and her wings. The master suite also flows through from the front to the rear of the property with large private terraces on each side from which to appreciate all angles of the beautiful setting. The balance of the upstairs bedrooms are all large and share access to an upstairs den/study/media room. Each bedroom has access to a well-apportioned balcony. A second staircase leads from the guest bedrooms directly to the laundry facilities and billiards room downstairs. A separate third-story loft is an ideal space for air-conditioned storage or even an office.

Villa Vizcaya – Tour – Miami – Audio guide – MyWoWo Travel App
When it came to naming his huge residence, James Deering chose a word from the Basque language, vizcaya, meaning a high place, a reference to the particular location of the villa, looking onto the bay from the top of a small rise. Building work began in 1914, and was completed just two years later. A whole army of one thousand people worked inside the villa: around 10% of Miami's population at the time.
The three-storey building has a total of 34 rooms. Once you enter the villa, you can admire the hall, decorated with wallpapers created in Paris, no less, at the beginning of the 19th century. Each room is embellished with tapestries, rugs, furniture, paintings and objects of all kinds collected by the rich benefactor on his many travels throughout his life.
The rooms on the first floor include a sitting room furnished with a tripod from the Roman age and a fifteenth-century Spanish carpet, as well as a music room decorated with ornaments from the Milan residence of the noble Borromeo family, and a dining room embellished with tapestries showing the story of Mercury, and a panel dating to the first century AD.
Opening onto the courtyard are the gates of the tea room, which once belonged to a Venetian palace, while in the butler's pantry, you can admire fine crystal and china…

Florida Trip 2016 - Coral Gables, Villa Vizcaya
In this video, Rachael showed you Coral Gables and Villa Vizcaya. This is day four of her trip to Florida. To learn more about Coral Gables and Villa Vizcaya, click show more.
About Coral Gables:
Coral Gables is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, located southwest of Downtown Miami. The city was developed by George Merrick during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. The city's architecture is almost entirely Mediterranean Revival style, including the Coral Gables Congregational Church, donated by Merrick. The domed, Catholic Church of the Little Flower was built somewhat later, in a similar Spanish Renaissance style. Every house in Coral Gables is different and most of the houses were built with coral. By 1926, the city covered 10,000 acres (4,000 ha) and had netted $150 million in sales, with over $100 million spent on development. Merrick designed the downtown commercial district to be only four blocks wide and more than two miles (3 km) long.
About Villa Vizcaya:
Villa Vizcaya is the former estate of businessman James Deering. The early 20th century Vizcaya estate also includes: extensive Italian Renaissance gardens; native woodland landscape; and a historic village outbuildings compound. The landscape and architecture were influenced by Veneto and Tuscan Italian Renaissance models and designed in the Mediterranean Revival architecture style, with Baroque elements. The estate property originally consisted of 180 acres (730,000 m2) of shoreline Mangrove swamps and dense inland native tropical forests. The villa was built primarily between 1914 and 1922, while the construction of the extensive elaborate Italian Renaissance gardens and the village continued into 1923. Deering used Vizcaya as his winter residence from 1916 until his death in 1925. The estate's name refers to the northern Spanish province Vizcaya (In English Biscay), in the Basque region along the east Atlantic's Bay of Biscay, as 'Vizcaya' is on the west Atlantic's Biscayne Bay. Records indicate Deering wished the name also to commemorate an early Spaniard named Vizcaya who he thought explored the area, although later he was corrected that the explorer's name was Sebastián Vizcaíno. James Deering died in September 1925, on board the steamship SS City of Paris en route back to the United States. After his death Vizcaya was inherited by his two nieces, Marion Chauncey Deering McCormick and Ely Deering McCormick Danielson. Over the decades, after hurricanes and increasing maintenance costs, they began selling the estate's surrounding land parcels and outer gardens. In 1945 they sold significant portions of the Vizcaya property to the Catholic Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida, to build Miami's Mercy Hospital. 50 acres (200,000 m2) comprising the main house, the formal gardens, and the village were retained. Vizcaya began operation in 1953 as the Dade County Art Museum.

CA' D'ZAN TOUR | HOUSE OF JOHN | THE RINGLING SARASOTA FL
Ca' d'Zan, House of John, a Mediterranean Revival residence in Sarasota, Florida, was the winter home of the American circus owner, developer and art collector John Ringling and his wife Mable. Lovers of the Venetian aesthetic, the Ringlings chose the site overlooking Sarasota Bay for its vista, which reminded them of the lagoon of their favorite city. The name of the residence is Venetian dialect for House of John. The Ringlings had been renting the residence of Mary Louise and Charles N. Thompson on their extensive Shell Beach parcel, and decided to purchase some of the land to build a permanent winter headquarters that would include a residence on the bay and a museum for their extensive art and artifact collection. An art school was planned to abut the museum, but it never was built. Mable's rose garden was the first completed portion of the complex. On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter placed Ca' d'Zan, the Residence of John and Mable Ringling on its list, Florida Architecture: 100 Years. 100 Places. Architectural details of the house reflect influences ranging from the Venetian Doge's Palace[5] to the tower of the first Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. Items collected by the couple during their international travels were featured in the residence. The design of the residence was commissioned from New York architect Dwight James Baum in 1924 and it was built by the Sarasota developer Owen Burns. The work was completed in 1926, as the Florida boom collapsed and the bank failures that would lead to the crash of 1929 began. The original cost to build the home was $1.6 million. Adjusting for inflation, that converts to approximately $21 million in 2013 dollars. In 1982 the residence was listed as a contributing property to the Caples'-Ringlings' Estates Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Other contributing properties in the district include the Ellen and Ralph Caples residence, the John and Mable Ringling Museum, the Hester Ringling Lancaster Sandford residence and the Edith and Charles Ringling residence. The 1998 film Great Expectations, directed by Alfonso Cuarón, had portions filmed at Ca' d'Zan, which served as Ms. Dinsmoor's house, Paradiso Perduto. The residence was restored in 2002 under the direction of Bill Puig. Most details of the original construction and decoration were restored faithfully except some of the interior color schemes.
