Po Lin to Tung Chung walk, Lantau Island, Hong Kong, China
A bus ride from Mui Wo to Ngong Ping and I could start this interesting day of walking. First I did the Nei Lak Shan circuit which gives views of three major projects that are unreal. They are Ngong Ping 360, a cable car ride from Tung Chung up to Ngong Ping. Chek Lap Kok which is a huge airport built on a man made island which ended the scary descent into Kai Tak Airport ( the old airport). Finally the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (HZMB), this bridge/tunnel is a 34 mile crossing to Macau.
The second part of this walk was a quick exploration of the Wisdom Path. The final part of this walk is a walk to Tung Chung, a busy built up area near the airport. This part of the walk passes lots of Monasteries. In Tung Chung I caught a bus back to Mui Wo. In total this walk was about 7-8 miles long.

Ngong Ping 360 | Full Journey to Tung Chung | Hong Kong
December 2016.
The Ngong Ping 360 aerial tramway is a must-travel mode of transport if you're in Hong Kong. It connects Tung Chung on Lantau Island to Ngong Ping, up in the hills through a 5.7km long line which has two angle stations en route. The trip duration takes around 25-30 minutes and is a great way to travel to and from the Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan Buddha statue. Along with the NLB buses, this provides a very scenic connectivity to these tourist attractions and hence it is always a great idea to take the bus in one direction and the cable car in another direction, thus making it a nice circular trip.
Ngong Ping 360 is operated by MTR Corporation, and has 109 cable cars, each of which can hold around 17 passengers.
From Wikipedia:
During the 25 minute journey, travellers can see panoramic views over the North Lantau Country Park, the South China Sea, Hong Kong International Airport, the Tung Chung valley, Ngong Ping Plateau and surrounding terrain and waterways. As visitors approach Ngong Ping, they can see The Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery.

【4K】2019 Hiking Tour - Hong Kong Tung Chung MTR Station To Tai O 東涌去大澳 | Part 1
Tai O is home to the Tanka people, a community of fisher folk who’ve built their houses on stilts above the tidal flats of Lantau Island for generations. These unusual structures are interconnected, forming a tightly knit community that literally lives on the water. Their enchanting world is a photographer's paradise.
The manually operated drawbridge that spans the narrow creek dividing the town replaced a rope-drawn ‘ferry’ that operated for over 85 years.
Address:Tai O, Lantau Island, Outlying Islands
How to get there
MTR Tung Chung Station. Take bus 11 to Tai O bus terminus (the journey takes approximately 50 minutes.) Walk for around five minutes to the Rope-drawn Ferry Bridge and then take a stroll along the waterfront; or,
MTR Tung Chung Station Exit B. Take Ngong Ping Cable Car to Ngong Ping Village (approximately 25 minutes). Take bus 21 to Tai O terminus (approximately 20 minutes) and walk for around five minutes to the Rope-drawn Ferry Bridge and then take a stroll along the waterfront.
I hope you will enjoy it!

Hong Kong police close Tung Chung MTR station
Hong Kong police closed Tung Chung MTR station on Saturday (Sep 7) afternoon, driving out hundreds of residents that had thronged the building. Travel Vlog To Tung Chung | Getting a Ticket for Ngong Ping 360 ( 昂坪360 ) Part 1
Tian Tan Buddha here we come!!! ☺️????
The Ngong Ping 360 (Chinese: 昂坪360) is a gondola lift on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Intended to improve tourism to the area, the aerial lift was previously known as Tung Chung Cable Car Project before acquiring the Ngong Ping 360 brand in April 2005. It consists of the Ngong Ping Cable Car, formerly known as the Ngong Ping 360 Skyrail, and the Ngong Ping Village, a retail and entertainment centre adjacent to the cable car's upper station.[1] Ngong Ping 360 connects Tung Chung, on the north coast of Lantau and itself linked to central Hong Kong by the Tung Chung Line, with the Ngong Ping area in the hills above. This is home to the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha, both already significant tourist attractions in their own right. Before Ngong Ping 360's opening, the only access was via a mountain road and bus service.
How to Get to the Big Buddha
It is easiest for most people to take the MTR (subway) to Tung Chung Station. Take Exit B (knowing your exit is extremely important at big Hong Kong stations). Then you have two choices.
Walk about a block to the Ngong Ping 360 cable car for a 25 minute ride up to Ngong Ping Village. After exiting the cable car in Ngong Ping Village, walk another easy 10 minutes or so to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery.
Or, walk to Tung Chung Town Centre and take New Lantao Bus 23, which takes around 45 minutes. Then, you’ll need to walk less than 10 minutes to the Big Buddha.
