The Glamorous Life of a Traveling Artist
...keeping it clean...not showing too much detail, to protect the innocent, I'm sharing a little bit of a recent hotel/travel experienc. I started in a motel provided as part of a gig that lasted several weeks. Yay! Made the travel and pay worth it without a hotel expense! I've stayed and played in MANY different kinds of places, grateful for them all! This is no exception. However, I spent any free hours, in the motel, cleaning. No matter how much I cleaned, layers of dirt continued to build up on everything. I had a hard time breathing. I don't like to kill things but I kept a natural bug cleaner close because I was constantly killing large bugs. There were people lined up outside their motel doors, hanging out (nothing wrong with that), but when I walked outside or got back to the room they were still there and would yell obscenities at me that I won't share. Not cool. IF I felt safe enough to leave the room, I carried a large kitchen knife. After moving from one room to a better room, I finally moved into a completely different hotel where I felt safer and didn't have to spend every extra moment cleaning (for which I had to spend most of my profit for doing this gig). Hey, I'm no snob. And I'm a pretty independent, daring chick but, girlfriend, you got a look out for yourself.
episode 13 - Amazing surf and a seal rescue!
What started out as a bad week after hurting my back, turned out pretty good. There was some amazing surf and Jodi and I were able to help rescue a stranded harp seal with the Mystic Aquarium. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to surf because of my back, but my videographer skills were on fire!!

Life and Service of a Surfman
Cape Cod was once home to 13 lifesaving stations, each manned by the brave predecessors of the modern Coast Guard, then called surfmen. Cape Cod National Seashore has the privilege of maintaining the last intact station of the original 13. Originally in Chatham, Old Harbor was moved to Race Point Beach in Provincetown in the winter of 1977-78, to serve as a museum. It has been restored and refurnished to depict the 1900 era. Every Thursday at 6pm in July and August, rangers put on a living history reenactment of the Beach Apparatus Drill, a complicated rescue technique that was practiced every week by the surfmen, but would only be used in the worst of storms
