After more than nine years of construction, Hong Kong’s HK$36 billion (US$4.6 billion) Central-Wan Chai Bypass opened on Sunday (January 20, 2019).
The 4.5km link on Hong Kong island, which comprises a flyover in the Central district and a 3.7km tunnel, is expected to ease chronic congestion and speed travel times.
An air purification systems for the bypass promises to effectively remove at least 80 per cent of pollutants from high-traffic areas along the link connecting Central and North Point.
Here are a few of the numbers that tally up what the new roadway system means to the city.

A hamburger (or cheeseburger when served with a slice of cheese) is a sandwich consisting of one or more cooked patties of ground meat, usually beef, placed inside a sliced bread roll or bun. Hamburgers may be cooked in a variety of ways, including pan-frying, barbecuing, and flame-broiling. Hamburgers are often served with cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, onion, pickles, and condiments such as mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, and chiles.[1]
The term burger can also be applied to the meat patty on its own, especially in the UK where the term patty is rarely used. The term may be prefixed with the type of meat or meat substitute used, as in turkey burger, bison burger, or veggie burger.
Hamburgers are sold at fast-food restaurants, diners, and specialty and high-end restaurants (where burgers may sell for several times the cost of a fast-food burger). There are many international and regional variations of the hamburger.

Wan Chai, a former fishing village is now a district of Hong Kong.
Here, right on Victoria Harbour, is the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong (formerly New World Harbour View Hotel). The pool of the hotel on the 11th floor is among the largest in Hong Kong.
The views over Kowloon was terrific, unfortunately in 1997, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center was built right in front of it. What remains is an overwhelming view from the hotel rooms over the Victoria Harbour with its people, boats and ships. The floor to ceiling windows convey the feeling to float over the port.
Wan Chai, attaining world fame by the film The world the Suzie Wong, has developed from a red light district to a business and financial center of Hong Kong.
As a pedestrian one moves over the streets on a pedestrian area with several floors. The enormous skyscrapers give the visitors the feeling to be an ant.

Wan Chai, ein ehemaliges Fischerdorf ist heute ein Stadtteil von Hongkong.
Hier, direkt am Victoria Harbour, liegt das Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong (ehemals New World Harbour View Hotel).

Wan Chai (Chinese: 灣仔) is a metropolitan area situated at the western part of the Wan Chai District on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. Its other boundaries are Canal Road to the east, Arsenal Street to the west and Bowen Road to the south. The area north of Gloucester Road is often referred to as Wan Chai North.
Wan Chai is one of the busiest commercial areas in Hong Kong with offices of many small and medium-sized companies. Wan Chai North features office towers, parks, hotels and an international conference and exhibition centre. As one of the first areas developed in Hong Kong, the locale is densely populated yet with noticeable residential zones facing urban decay. Arousing considerable public concern, the government has undertaken several urban renewal projects in recent years. There are various landmarks and skyscrapers within the area, most notably the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), Central Plaza and Hopewell Centre.

Wan Chai Computer Market Hong Kong. Very expensive :-(

Hong Kong is a shopping Mecca, and that metaphor holds true for lovers of electronics. But among the throngs of shops lining the streets of this concrete jungle, where do you start looking for the best prices and trustworthy vendors?
To find out where to buy phones, computers, cameras, and video games in Hong Kong, Tech in Asia sought the advice of locals and scoured Reddit for the most recommended places to get your gadget on. But before you set out on your journey, let’s start with a few guidelines to make your purchase go smoothly.
Contrary to popular belief, not everything is cheaper in Hong Kong. Compared to mainland China, yes, lower taxes result in most electronics being 20 to 30 percent less expensive. But for those coming from other countries, we highly recommend you look up prices on Price.com.hk. The website is all in Chinese, but it’s fairly straightforward. Nearly every consumer electronic product sold in Hong Kong can be found here, and you’ll get a good idea of how much you should be paying.
The specific shops are also listed, but there’s no guarantee that price will still be there by the time you walk in.
As a general rule, don’t buy extended warranties. Most warranties for goods sold in Hong Kong are only valid in Hong Kong, anyway. Keep that in mind if you’re coming from overseas.
Also for out-of-country buyers, do your research on electronics that might be region-locked. Are your games and DVDs in PAL or NTSC format? What bands does your smartphone use to connect to your local data network?
Steer clear the neon-clad shops in Tsim Tsa Shui. With a couple exceptions, these are notorious for scams.
Finally, unless you plan on purchasing from a major chain, have cash handy. Many places won’t accept credit cards, or they charge a premium for it.
