The Baltimore Inner Harbor Cruise Complete Tour Part 1
This is an in depth complete tour of the Baltimore inner harbor. There is some wind which starts towards the middle and ends towards the end of the cruise. So you will only hear it a lot towards the middle of the cruise. Sorry about that.
Part 2:
The Inner Harbor is a historic seaport, tourist attraction, and landmark of the city of Baltimore, Maryland, USA. It was described by the Urban Land Institute in 2009 as “the model for post-industrial waterfront redevelopment around the world.”The Inner Harbor is located at the mouth of Jones Falls, creating the wide and short northwest branch of the Patapsco River. The district includes any water west of a line drawn between the foot of President Street and the American Visionary Art Museum.
The name Inner Harbor is used not just for the water but for the surrounding area of the city, with approximate street boundaries of President Street to the east, Lombard Street to the north, Greene Street to the west, and Key Highway on the south. The harbor is within walking distance of Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium. A water taxi connects passengers to Fells Point, Canton, and Fort McHenry.
While Baltimore has been a major U.S. seaport since the 18th century, the historically shallow water of the Inner Harbor (prior to manipulation through dredging) was not conducive to large ships or heavy industry. These were concentrated in Locust Point, Fell's Point, and Canton.
In the mid-20th century, Baltimore suffered from the economic decline of restructuring common to many industrial cities in the United States. Old harbors were abandoned with the arrival of container ships after World War II. Later, the old harbors were adapted as focal points to reconnect cities with their waterfronts, and develop public spaces, tourism, business, and housing.
The Inner Harbor neighborhood is centered on a tourism-friendly plaza that surrounds part of the harbor.
During the 1940s, John H. Threadgill, the head of the Steamship Trade Association, initiated a study for a cross-harbor bridge. A bridge across the Inner Harbor of Baltimore was one idea that was discussed frequently. In his capacity as head of the association, Threadgill ultimately recommended that the idea for a cross-harbor bridge be abandoned, due to the fact that Baltimore relied heavily on a shipping trade and fears that the bridge would negatively impede the flow of shipping traffic at the Port of Baltimore.Threadgill was named head of Baltimore's Port Commission during the 1950s.
In the 1950s, economic changes ended both the freight and passenger use of the Inner Harbor, such as the Old Bay Line's steamers. Rotting warehouses and piers were eventually torn down and replaced by open, grass-covered parkland that was used for recreational purposes and occasional large events.
The waterfront was gradually transformed with award-winning parks and plazas surrounded by office buildings, hotels and leisure attractions, which reversed the city's decline and became a model for urban renaissance in cities around the world. The renewal of Baltimore's Inner Harbor area began with the adoption of the 33-acre (13 ha) Charles Center project by the City Council and Mayor Thomas D’Alesandro in March 1958. Between 1958 and 1965, Baltimore renewed the center of its business district by rebuilding Charles Center with office buildings, hotels, and retail shops.
At the beginning of mayor Theodore R. McKeldin's second term in 1963, the redevelopment program was expanded to include 240 acres (97 ha) surrounding the Inner Harbor. Corporate headquarters and hotels were built around the shoreline of the Inner Harbor. A public park and promenade were added for leisure activity and community gatherings.
On July 4, 1976, following the rendezvous of Tall Ships in New York for the U.S. Bicentennial, eight ships from other nations visited Baltimore, where they attracted a huge number of tourists. This interest helped spur the development of other tourist attractions – including the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center, and the Harborplace festival marketplace (operated by The Rouse Company), which opened on July 4, 1980. The nearby Baltimore Convention Center and Hyatt Regency Baltimore Hotel added to the services and resulted in population density and visitors.
With the success of the Inner Harbor in the 1970s and 1980s, Baltimore became a worldwide tourist destination and model of urban planning and development. It influenced more than 100 other cities and won more than 40 national or international awards, including a citation by the American Institute of Architects in 1984 as “one of the supreme achievements of large-scale urban design and development in U.S. history.”

Driving on State Road 31 - Charlotte County, Florida
State Road 31 (SR 31) is a state highway in Southwest Florida in Lee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. It is about 36 miles (58 kilometers) long. The entire roadway is two lanes wide, even near Fort Myers. The highway crosses the Caloosahatchee River via the Wilson Pigott Bridge, a small drawbridge, a mile north of the southern terminus. The northern terminus is with an intersection of SR 70 near Arcadia. The southern terminus is with an intersection of SR 80 near Fort Myers Shores. The route is home to G. Pierce Wood Memorial Hospital, replacing the old De Soto Aircraft Field.
In 2006, Cameratta Properties purchased 5,860 acres (24 km2) of land along SR 31 in DeSoto County for a master-planned community that upon completion will add approximately 17,000 homes and 500,000 square feet (50,000 m2) of retail and office space.
In 2006, DeSoto County announced that the county will build a new wastewater treatment facility along SR 31 to accommodate the future demand for residential housing anticipated along the SR 31 Corridor.
Driving through Cuyamaca Mountains on California Route 78
State Route 78 (SR 78) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs from Oceanside east to Blythe, traversing nearly the entire width of the state. Its western terminus is at Interstate 5 (I-5) in San Diego County and its eastern terminus is at I-10 in Riverside County. The route is a freeway through the heavily populated cities of northern San Diego County and a two-lane highway running through the Cuyamaca Mountains to Julian. In Imperial County, SR 78 travels through the desert near the Salton Sea and passes through the city of Brawley before turning north and passing through an area of sand dunes on the way to its terminus in Blythe.
SR 78 was one of the original state highways designated in 1934, although portions of the route existed as early as 1900. However, it was not designated east of Brawley until 1959. The freeway section in the North County of San Diego that connects Oceanside and Escondido was built in the middle of the twentieth century in several stages, including a transitory stage known as the Vista Way Freeway, and has been improved several times. An expressway bypass of the city of Brawley was completed in 2012. There are many projects slated to improve the freeway due to increasing congestion in the region.
Driving on Bermont Road in Rural Charlotte County, Florida
State Road 74 existed in several sections. The most important one connected US 17 northeast of Punta Gorda with SR 29 south of Palmdale. Another stretched west from SR 78 in Lakeport, and was planned to continue to US 27 north of Palmdale. These two segments are now County Road 74.
A third piece of State Road 74 in Palm Beach County was renumbered State Road 786.
Driving on California Route 86 from Salton City to 78
State Route 86 (SR 86) is a north–south state highway in the southeastern desert region of Southern California, United States. It runs from State Route 111, near the Mexican border crossing at Calexico, north through the Imperial Valley via El Centro and Brawley, and around the west side of the Salton Sea into the Coachella Valley. It joins State Route 111 at Coachella and heads into Indio, ending at the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Avenue 46, where SR 111 turns west onto Avenue 46. (The locally-maintained Interstate 10 Business continues northwest on Indio Boulevard, as did SR 86 before that portion was removed from the state highway system.)
The legal definition of SR 86 takes it to Interstate 10 in Indio.
Driving on Florida State Road 62 from Manatee to Hardee County
State Road 62 (SR 62) extends 37 miles (60 km) through unincorporated Manatee and Hardee counties, and passes through Florida scrubland, from Parrish to near Bowling Green. The paved road is only two lanes wide over its entire route. It also cuts through the Manatee River basin. The road crosses Horse Creek and the North Fork of the Manatee River. It provides access to the Tampa Bay area from Hardee County.
Inside Duette, SR 62 meets with the intersection of Keentown Road. Keentown Road is a 1.8-mile (2.9 km) dirt road that leads into the hamlet of Keentown, a farming community. There are only 3 major junctions on this highway, SR 37, CR 39, and CR 663.
5 miles (8.0 km) east of Parrish is Lake Parrish, an artificial lake. It is home to a FPL power plant and a boat ramp.
In Hardee County, the road does not turn to the left or right for 14 miles (23 km).
Driving on Ohio Route 44 from Chardon to Painesville and Mentor
State Route 44 (SR 44) is a north–south state highway in the northeastern portion of Ohio, a U.S. state. It runs from a southern terminus at State Route 43 in Waynesburg to a northern terminus at the entrance to Headlands Beach State Park near Painesville. spans from Painesville Township in the north to Waynesburg in the south. Driving from Lehigh Acres to the Barrett-Jackson Auction - West palm beach, FL
starting out on Joel Boulevard and then going east on State Road 80 through LaBelle, Clewiston, Belle Glade then finally to the South Florida Fairgrounds
The section from Twenty Mile Bend to West Palm Beach was opened as part of the Conners Highway on July 4, 1924.
The route was first designated State Road 25 in 1923, running from Palm Beach to Punta Rassa. As a result of the 1945 Florida State Road renumbering, the route became State Road 80 from Fort Myers to Palm Beach, and the segment west of Fort Myers to Punta Rassa became State Road 867. (Ironically, State Road 25 still applies today to the concurrency with US 27 as that is now US 27’s hidden designation).[4]
The segment between Belle Glade and Twenty Mile Bend, known as the Kenneth C. Mock Memorial Highway was completed in 1989, making SR 80 a four-lane divided highway between Belle Glade and West Palm Beach. Prior to this, SR 80 (and US 441) ran just to the south along what is now County Road 880.[5] US 98 would later be rerouted onto this route beginning around 2000.
Until 2002, Palm Beach County's Southern Boulevard was a four lane road with a center left-turn lane, causing high gridlock due to the rapidly growing western suburbs of Loxahatchee, Royal Palm Beach and Wellington.[6] The road was known as Killer 80 due to its high fatality rate.[7] In 2002, after many years of debate, the Florida Department of Transportation embarked on a $78 million project to upgrade and widen Southern Boulevard from I-95 to US 441/SR 7.[6] Between 2003 and 2008, it was transformed into a limited-access highway with freeway-grade diamond interchanges at the most congested intersections, with traffic signals remaining at others.[8][9]
Prior to 2006, SR 80 continued through downtown Fort Myers along Second and Bay Streets. This segment was then relinquished to the city as part of the downtown redevelopment and streetscape effort.[10] This created the gap that exists today.
In Hendry County, a project to improve the intersection between SR 80 and US 27 and add an overpass was completed at the end of 2014
