Valemount is a village municipality of 1,018 people in east central British Columbia, Canada located 320 kilometres from Kamloops, British Columbia. It is situated between the Rocky, Monashee, and Cariboo Mountains. It is the nearest community to the west of Jasper National Park, and is also the nearest community to Mount Robson Provincial Park, which features Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. Outdoor recreation is popular in summer and winter—hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, and horseback riding are common activities. Berg Lake is a lake on the Robson River just below the river's source located within Mount Robson Provincial Park, at the doorstep of the north face of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. It is partly fed by the Berg Glacier.The turquoise colored Berg Lake is dotted with icebergs even in the middle of summer. Berg Lake can be reached by following a marked hiking trail for 19 kilometres from the parking lot. To reach the parking lot, follow Highway 5 north from Valemount to Highway 16 and head east 18 kilometres . Or, follow Yellowhead Highway 16 west from Jasper townsite for 84 kilometres to the Mount Robson Viewpoint centre. On the north side of the highway, follow a two-lane paved road for 2 kilometres , ending at the parking lot.

We’ve traveled to Canada with Scenic to catch up with Ted, the Harley-Davidson riding bad-boy who has this amazing scenery as his backyard. If you want to check the national park out this has got to be the best way to do it.

What’s the magic for you that keeps you coming out here every day?

Ted: “Making people happy and letting them see a part of the country that they may never see again.”

David: “I like that this fresh air is keeping you nice and young, Ted.”

The Harley tour has to be the most unique way to explore Jasper.

There’s 1500cc of Harley engine guiding you through one of the most
picturesque parts of Canada. This is quite an experience.

Jasper National Park is huge. It spans over 10,000 square kilometres and with its World Heritage listing it's one of the most visited destinations in the country.

Canada: the scenic highway from Jasper to Clearwater

leaving the Jasper national Park the highway approaches Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. There is a good view of the mountain from the road. Later the highway reach Valemount, with continual views of the peaks of the Premier Range. From Valemount on the highway follow the course of the Fraser river, with beautiful views of the valley and mountains. It is salmon country, with a national hatchery. At Clearwater is the Clearwater Lake, very popular in the summer.

Jasper to Valemount time lapse road trip

Travelling through Mount Robson park from Jasper Alberta to Valemount BC. Turned on the time lapse on the galaxy nexus and it worked perfectly. Trip towards the end of February, so it's pretty snowy, but the roads weren't all that bad. Tomorrow we plan to take the gold rush trail and film that in time lapse.
