The Nicola Valley Museum and Archives is in Merritt, British Columbia. it was built and is operated by the Nicola Valley Museum and Archives Association, which was formed at a meeting at Merritt City Hall on May 26, 1976, and was registered as a Society on September 23, 1976. The members initially met in a variety of locations and had two temporary museums before moving into the current facility in 1980/81. The 4,000 square foot museum/archives shares a building with a Senior Citizens Recreation Centre. It is located in downtown Merritt at 1675 Tutill Court with access from Coldwater Avenue or from the adjacent Railyard Mall.

Nicola Lake is a glacially formed narrow, deep lake located in the South-Central Interior of British Columbia, Canada approximately thirty kilometres northeast of the city of Merritt. It was a centrepoint of the first settlements in the grasslands lying south of Kamloops, and today is used for recreation and as a water storage site to provide irrigation and water flows to fisheries downstream in the Nicola River. The lake is important in the history of the local Nicola people as the location of one of their major communities, Nicola Lake Indian Reserve No. 1, which lies on its eastern shore and is the home of the Upper Nicola Indian Band. Many of the band work for the Douglas Lake Cattle Company, aka the Douglas Lake Ranch, whose headquarters are also adjacent to the lake.

The COQUIHALLA Highway - Driving from Hope to Merritt BC Canada - Dangerous Road

Whenever you hear news about the Coquihalla highway (The Coq, as locals call it) it usually isn't good news (2:52).

Treacherous winter conditions, lack of clearly written lines on the road (14:15), a high speed limit, along with all those long-haul trailers/trucks make this route quite a stressful one.

I'm a little curious as to when some lines are going to be painted on part of this road so we can figure out where the lanes are...
