Rossland is a city in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. Tucked high in the Monashee Mountains, Rossland is at an elevation of 1023 metres . Its population is 3556, though it fluctuates from season to season. The population is at its peak during the winter. Rossland has been known as the 'Mountain Bike Capital of Canada' since 1993 when it was awarded this title, with an extensive trail system radiates from the outskirts of the town. Also nearby is the multi-peak ski hill, Red Mountain Resort.

    Whitewater Ski Resort is a ski resort located a 25-minute drive from Nelson in southern British Columbia, Canada. The resort is situated in Ymir bowl, beneath the 2,400 m high Ymir Mountain, in the Selkirk Mountains. The Selkirks receive plentiful, dry snow, and the location in a high alpine bowl provides an annual snowfall average of approximately 12 m . The elevation of the parking lot is 1,605 m and the highest lift accessed point is 2,000 m . While Ymir Peak is not included within the ski area boundary, lifts climb both shoulders of the bowl and provide easy traverse routes along ridges to the top.
