  • 1. Tranquille Farm Fresh Kamloops
    Tranquille Sanatorium was built in 1907 to treat tuberculosis. A small community known as Tranquille was built around it. The community included gardens, houses, a farm, fire department, and more facilities. In 1958, the hospital closed and was reopened in 1959 to treat the mentally ill. It closed permanently in 1983. There are plans for the demolition of the site as the surrounding land is converted to a resort. The site is now currently in use again and is operated by Tranquille Farm Fresh. The company gives tours of the grounds and offers historical theatre in the fall in partnership with Chimera Theatre of Kamloops, BC.
