Richmond is a coastal city located in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Part of the Metro Vancouver area, it has an estimated population of 198,309 people as of 2016. Richmond has an immigrant population of 60%, the highest in Canada. Richmond is the location of Vancouver International Airport and was the site of the long track speed skating events during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Richmond is located on Lulu Island at the mouth of the Fraser River, and also encompasses adjacent Sea Island and some smaller uninhabited islets to the north and south.     Steveston was originally a small town founded in the 1880s by William Herbert Steves near Vancouver, British Columbia. It is located in the city of Richmond, British Columbia. Steveston village is a historic salmon canning centre at the mouth of the South Arm of the Fraser River, on the southwest tip of Lulu Island in Richmond, British Columbia. Since 1945, it has hosted an annual Steveston Salmon Festival on July 1, Canada Day. The extreme southwestern tip of this southwestern suburb contains Garry Point Park, the site of the Steveston Fisherman's Memorial.
