Bardhaman district was a district in West Bengal. On 7 April 2017, the district was bifurcated into Purba Bardhaman district and Paschim Bardhaman district. The headquarters of the district was Bardhaman, and it housed the cities of Asansol and Durgapur.Great revolutionary Rashbehari Bose was born in village Subaldaha, Bardhaman district. It was the seventh most populous district in India at the time of bifurcation.

    Durgapur is a Tier-II city in Paschim Bardhaman district, in the state of West Bengal, India. Durgapur is the 3rd largest urban agglomeration after Kolkata and Asansol in West Bengal and happens to be the 2nd planned city in India after Chandigarh and has the only operational dry port in the Eastern part of India. Durgapur was planned by two American Architects- Joseph Allen Stein and Benjamin Polk in 1955. It is the only city in Eastern India to have an operational dry dock.

  • 3. Hooghly Imambara Hooghly
    Hooghly Imambara is a Shia Muslim congregation hall and mosque in Hooghly, West Bengal, India. The construction of the building was started by Muhammad Mohsin in 1841 and completed in 1861. The building is a two storied structure, with a tall clock tower over the entrance gate. The mosque has intricate designs and texts from Quran engraved on the wall. The interior of the mosque is decorated with marbles, candles and hanging lanterns.
