Weather
The weather in the UK can vary from day to day. Warmer and hotter months are between April to September. Colder months with snow,sleet and rain are between October and March. You can get some humidity and pollen is highest, between June and August for hayfever suffers. You can also get rain in between, April and September.

Time Difference
During the winter months, Britain is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 10 hours behind Sydney. Western standard time is five hours behind.
From late March until late October, the clocks go forward one hour to British Summer Time (BST).

Weight And Measurements
Britain is officially metric, in line with the rest of Europe. However, imperial measures are still in use, especially for road distances, which are measured in miles. Imperial pints and gallons are 20 per cent larger than US measures.

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.
If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.

A day at Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, England.
Dubbed the ‘Windsor of the North,’ Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in the country and has been home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, for over 700 years.
Combining magnificent medieval architecture with sumptuous Italianate State Rooms, Alnwick Castle is one of the UK’s most significant heritage destinations and best days out in Northumberland.
The Castle’s rich history is brimming with drama, intrigue and extraordinary people; from a gunpowder plotter and visionary collectors, to decadent hosts and medieval England’s most celebrated knight: Harry Hotspur.
In recent years it has also taken starring roles in a number of film and television productions, featuring as the magnificent Brancaster Castle in Downton Abbey and previously appearing as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films. It has previously been a location used in Becket, Blackadder; Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Ivanhoe, and many others listed in the Location section of the Alnwick Castle website.
The lavish Italian Renaissance style interiors of the State Rooms are contained like a jewel within Alnwick Castle’s magnificent fortified exterior. Originally remodelled as a family home by the 1st Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, and beautifully restored in the 19th Century, these luxurious interiors are a vision to behold.
The State Rooms are filled with one of the country’s finest private art and furniture collections, including work by Canaletto, Titian, Van Dyck, Turner, and Dobson; an extensive gallery of Meissen, Chelsea, and Paris porcelain; and the priceless Cucci cabinets, originally created for Louis XIV of France at the Palace of Versailles. From the windows of each room, the castle's grounds can be admired, and beyond them, the landscape created by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown.

Discover the Norfolk Coast
Take a picturesque 70 mile journey along the Norfolk Coast Path from 'Sunny Hunny' Hunstanton to the golden sandy beaches at Hembsy.
Watch how this beautiful Norfolk coastline changes dramatically as we move from west to east.
From the amazing coloured layered cliffs at Hunstanton to Marram Grass filled sand-dunes at Holkham with miles of shell filled beaches.
Salt marshes and meandering creeks take prominence from Brancaster to Blakeney - areas of outstanding natural beauty!
Cliffs re-emerge at the pebbled filled beach at Weybourne and continue around the North East corner protecting this vulnerable part of the Norfolk coastline from the North Sea until they merge again with sand dunes and gorgeous beaches at Sea Palling and Hemsby.
Also along the route we visit popular tourist spots like Blakeney Quay and the beach huts at Wells next the Sea. We take in views of Sheringham and West Runton from Beeston Bump and marvel at the elegant Cromer Pier.

Thornham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated on the north Norfolk coast some 7 kilometres north-east of the seaside resort of Hunstanton, 30 km north of the town of King's Lynn and 70 km (43 mi) north-west of the city of Norwich.
The civil parish has an area of 13.47 km2 (5.20 sq mi) and in the 2001 census had a population of 478 in 249 households, including Titchwell and increasing to 496 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.
HMS Thornham, a Ham class minesweeper, was named after the village. The ship's bell hangs in All Saints' Church. The Lifeboat Inn is a public house and inn in Ship Lane, Thornham, Norfolk, England. It lies near the wooded grounds of Thornham Manor. The white-painted pub was originally built in the 16th century and was a smuggler's ale house. It consists of two main buildings; the main inn having 13 double rooms, with the other being the Old Coach House which has 9 rooms.

The Museum also explores the remarkable geological and environmental circumstances that have helped to preserve these shipwrecks.

Norfolk Trails, Bittern Line Walks, 10, Sheringham. 27.2.16
An 8 mile walk around Sheringham on mixed surfaces (mainly soft) and including Beeston Bump; Beeston Regis Priory (1216); Beeston Common; Sheringham Park and The Poppyline of North Norfolk Railway. A Google search will provide interesting background on these places.
A nice, varied walk best done in a clockwise direction to avail of the winds on the coast walk.
