Buttrio is a comune in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with a population of 4,050 people, located about 60 kilometres northwest of Trieste and about 10 kilometres southeast of Udine. Buttrio borders the following municipalities: Manzano, Pavia di Udine, Pradamano, Premariacco. Buttrio is renowned for its wines, as well as for being the place for the headquarters of the multinational company Danieli SpA, the largest supplier of equipment and plants to the metal industry in the world, are located in Buttrio.

San Michele in Isola is a Roman Catholic church, located on the Isola di San Michele, a small islet sited between Venice and Murano, which once sheltered a Camaldolese monastery , but now houses the main cemetery of the city. The monastery was mostly demolished in the 19th-century, but the church remains, originally rebuilt starting in 1469. The church is dedicated to Saint Michael , the holder of the scales on Judgement Day, a fit guardian of the sleep of the faithful dead. The island cemetery now includes the land of the formerly separate island of San Cristoforo. This church is sometimes referred to as San Michele di Murano, although this islet is separate from islands comprising that town.

The Castle of Udine is a historical building in Udine, northern Italy, built upon a hill in the historical center of the city. The Castle hill is made of drift accumulating during centuries. However, a legend about its origin says that when Attila the Hun plundered Aquileia in the year 452, he asked his soldiers to build a hill to see the Aquileia burning. This was made by filling the helmet of each soldier with ground. The first official statement of the existence of a building on the hill dates back to 983: the Holy Roman Emperor Otto II donated to Rodoaldo, Patriarch of Aquileia a castrum, a military building. The present building has the form of a palace and it was built on the ruins of a fortress destroyed in the year 1511 Idrija earthquake. The construction had started in 1517 and the works had lasted for 50 years. The external decoration of the palace and the paintings in the Parliament Hall are due to Giovanni da Udine, one of the pupils of Raphael. The council of the Patria del Friuli was one of the first parliaments in the world, and it was suppressed after the French occupation in 1797. Today the castle hosts the History and Art Museum of the City of Udine.
