La zona dei Navigli è l'area di Milano caratterizzata da due lunghi canali artificiali. Il Naviglio Grande nasce dal fiume Ticino e termina nella Darsena di Porta Ticinese che costituiva il porto interno di Milano. Il Naviglio Pavese parte dalla darsena di Porta Ticinese e raggiunge la città di Pavia. I navigli servivano per il trasporto delle merci e per l'irrigazione delle campagne che circondano la città.
Nella Darsena col tempo si è sviluppato un fenomeno di vegetazione spontanea che ha dato vita a un'oasi di biodiversità, attualmente in fase di bonifica. Lungo il Naviglio Grande ci si può imbattere in testimonianze di un passato lontano, come nei lavatori del vicolo dei lavandai, o negli edifici che formano il borgo intorno
alla Chiesa di San Cristoforo, che ricordano l'antico carattere popolare del quartiere. Sul Naviglio Grande l'ultima domenica di ogni mese si svolge il mercatone dell'Antiquariato. E' una grande fiera dedicata ai collezionisti e ai curiosi. Un tempo la zona era molto popolare, con le tipiche case di ringhiera. Oggi è un
quartiere molto alla moda, pieno di locali e ristoranti, che ne fanno un vero polo d'attrazione per i giovani della città.
