1. La Mongie Campan
The village of La Mongie is at 1,800 m altitude. There are also residences at 1850 and the Tourmalet building at 1900. It lies below the Col du Tourmalet 2,115 m . It is in the canton of Campan in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France and around 20 kilometres from the Spanish border. La Mongie is a winter ski resort offering alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowpark, cross-country skiing, snowmobiles and hiking in snowshoes. In the summer cycling and the use of trials motorcycles is popular. The village has two small supermarkets, a tourist information centre, gift shops and many restaurants and ski rental shops. The nearby spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre offers large supermarkets and shops, restaurants, a casino, an 18-hole golf course and the natural spa baths themselves.

The Lac de Payolle is an artificial lake in the French Pyrenees. It is located in the communes of Campan and Arreau of the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Midi-Pyrénées region. Its western shore is the boundary between the communes of Ancizan and Arreau. It is usually completely frozen in winter.

Pont d'Espagne is a stone-built bridge that spans the Gave de Marcadau at the point where it meets the Gave de Gaube, near one of its sources high in the French Pyrenees. It is a protected area of the Pyrénées in the Pyrénées National Park. The Pont d'Espagne is at an altitude of approx 1500m. The name translates as Spanish Bridge. Cycling the Pyrenees

It's the last couple days of our cycling holiday in the Pyrenees. We had a great time staying at the Free Range Chalet, having been well looked after by Victoria and Geoff (this isn't a sponsored video :) ). During our last couple days, we even saw some sun and had a great day cycling up the Peyresourde which has been used in the Tour de France many times and is part of stage 17 in the Tour de France 2018.

Luz Ardiden Bike Ride Descent

Day 3 in Pyrenees: warm-up ride from Luz-Saint-Sauveur up to Gavarnie, then back (another video - and left turn up to Luz Ardiden. Stunning views, absolutely beautiful, and with so much Tour de France history it was truly a memorable climb.

Video shows just a little bit of the climb followed by an entire descent. Sensible speeds, nice ride down enjoying the moment.
