Minirugby, il Trofeo Città di Codroipo 2018
Successo su tutta la linea per la quarta edizione del Trofeo di Minirugby “Città di Codroipo”. Dopo il prologo del sabato, dedicato agli Under 14, sul campo di Goricizza, la manifestazione, organizzata magistralmente dalla società di casa l'OverBugLine Rugby Codroipo del presidente Susana Greggio e del direttore tecnico Riccardo Sironi, si è conclusa con una giornata superlativa la domenica allo stadio comunale e sui campetti adiacenti. Sotto il solleone, tribuna piena, rettangoli verdi invasi da una miriade di maglie e colori, entusiasmo palpabile fin dalla cerimonia di apertura (presentata da Franca Rizzi, volto noto della tv regionale e nazionale), che ha visto sfilare sul tartan della pista di atletica, preceduti dai tamburini della rievocazione storica di Cividale, gli oltre mille giovanissimi protagonisti, in rappresentanza di 18 club italiani, croati, bosniaci, austriaci e rumeni. Toccante il ricordo dedicato a Massimo Gori, il giocatore dell'Under 6 dell'OverBugLine scomparso all'improvviso l'anno scorso. Tre palloncini raffiguranti il suo numero di maglia, il 147, sono stati liberati in cielo al termine della sfilata. A lui è stata dedicata, come già l'anno scorso, anche la coppa della categoria Under 6.
Per la cronaca il Trofeo “Città di Codroipo”, che va alla società, che ha ottenuto complessivamente i migliori piazzamenti nelle varie categorie (Under, 14, 12, 10, 8 e 6) è stato vinto dalla Rugby Udine Union Fvg.
Nell'Under 14 sono stati i padroni di casa dell'OverBugLine a primeggiare superando in finale l'Amatori Napoli. Ottimo terzo il Biella Rugby.
In Under 12 sorprendente, ma meritatissima vittoria del Maniago, che in finale ha battuto i favoriti coetanei della Udine Union Fvg. Terzi a pari merito i croati di Makarska e Dubrovnik. In Under 10 primo Udine, seguito da Mirano e Codroipo. In Under 8 Biella con a ruota Pasian di Prato e Codroipo. Infine l'Under 6: Pasian di Prato, Codroipo e Rep Trieste.

Lake Comacchio is situated very close to the Adriatic Sea and the road cuts between the two. It is a narrow stretch of land, not much more than 1km wide. Formerly a swamp, much of the land has been drained for agricultural use, nonetheless I think that there must be a problem here with mosquitoes during the late spring and early summer. Malaria was once a major problem but has now been eradicated. I discuss a little of the historical implications of malaria during the drive. Whilst filming of this I got bitten.
It is an area popular with Italian tourists with many resorts along the coast.
I visited Comacchio in 1993 with a lady friend and it was one of the wierdest places I have ever been to. We went there as I had seen a programme about eel fishing on the lake and to try the local speciality. We felt that everyone was staring at us as though we were the unwelcome strangers in town. Not only us, but others we talked to felt the same.
The land here is so flat - who would believe that such a short time earlier I was in the mountains?
After its early occupation by the Etruscans and the Gauls, when the site lay on the main stream of the River Po, Comacchio was annexed by Rome. Under Emperor Augustus, who ruled Rome from 27 BCE to 14 CE, a canal was dug to deepen its lagoon. Part of the original wetlands were drained and divided among villae rusticae.
Comacchio enjoyed prosperity under the Goths and the Lombards, and became the seat of a Lombard duchy. It owed its fortunes to its salt pans and its strategic importance to its location: when the Lombard king Authari expanded the Lombard dominion at the expense of Byzantium, he took the fortress of Comacchio and cut off communication between Padua and Ravenna. When the Franks descended into northern Italy in 756, their king, Pepin the Short, included Comacchio in his famous donation of land to Pope Stephen II, a grant later confirmed by Pepin's son and successor, Charlemagne. In 854 Comacchio was sacked by their rivals in the salt trade, the Venetians, who laid it waste in 946. Saracen raiders burned the city in 876, but despite this Comacchio slowly recovered. The Holy See later acquired the city and presented it to the archbishopric of Ravenna.
In the 13th century, Emperor Rudolph I conferred it on Obizzo IV d'Este of Ferrara. In 1508 it became Venetian, but in 1597 was claimed by Clement VIII as a vacant fief. In 1598 the Papal States again acquired Comacchio and retained it until 1866 when it became a part of the Kingdom of Italy.
Since then, most of the swamp land has disappeared, leaving ground for the expansion of agriculture, and creating new zones for dwellings. Comacchio was once home to a factory for sugar refining, which closed in 1988. Comacchio and its seafront Lidi are a center for tourism.

That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Villa Pisani National Museum
Villa Pisani, the Queen of the world - famous venetian villas, is one of the main tourist attractions in the Veneto Region. The fine villa of the noble Pisani family lies along the Riviera del Brenta, an ideal extension of Venetian Gran Canal on the land, 10 minutes away from Padua and 20 from Venice. In its 144 rooms doges, kings and emperors were welcomed and nowadays it is a national museum which conserves eighteenth and nineteenth century works of art and furniture, as Gianbattista Tiepolo's masterpiece, The Glory of the Pisani family, a fresco on the ceiling of the ballroom. Every step is a new sight and a new beauty: thus described Villa Pisani garden an enthusiastic traveller in the nineteenth century. As in the past, the garden is enchanting with its flamboyant sights, original architecture, its famous maze, its valuable citrus fruit collection and its greenhouses with plants and flowers, everything which gives pleasure to the sight and gratifies our taste, as boasted Almorò Pisani.
Villa Pisani hosts great art exhibitions, which draw over 150.000 visitors every year.

Udine (Friulian Udin, Slovene Videm, German Weiden, Latin Utinum) is a city in northeastern Italy, in the middle of Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, between the Adriatic sea and the Alps (Alpi Carniche), less than 40 km from the Slovenian border. Its population was 99,030 in 2008, and that of its urban area was 174,000.
Pordenone. Una storia di acque
Sabato 25 a Pordenone, presso la sala congressi della Provincia, si è svolto il convegno organizzato da Il Circolo, Pordenone. Una storia di acque. Una bellissima occasione per ricordare come il capoluogo della destra Tagliamento nasca e si sviluppi non solo sulle rive del Noncello ma anche su un folto reticolo di rogge e canali di rara bellezza, non valorizzate se non addirittura occultate nel passato. Farle riemergere ed integrare nel tessuto urbano è un`occasione da non perdere. Ecco la bella presentazione del Professor Francesco Carone sia per chi l`ha vista ma non l`ha sentita durante il convegno (per un problema tecnico...) sia per chi se l`è persa. Buona visione.

This my collection of photos, is the result of several of my trips in Italy and other countries in the world. Travel challenging, but also simple weekends and day trips, of course for the latter only for Italy. Package tours and DIY.
The pictures I chose, 3/4 to place, I have not done just for those beautiful, at least the way I see them, but I only chose those that have taken the places gave me a strong emotion or have a certain historical significance.
I did not put the name of the places in the caption, because it is quite challenging, but will keep a list of places, even if the photos are in no particular order.

Csorna to Győr, Hungary : Sicily to Ukraine by camper van part 67

I start this part of the journey in Csorna, noting the opening times of Tesco and turning off east towards Győr, leaving the E65. There are traffic jams in Csorna owing to road works in the centre of the town.
Csorna is located near the Fertő-Hanság National Park on the Austrian - Hungarian border which has a great deal of interesting bird life. People who follow my films will know how much I appreciate the ornithology of Hungary from my visit in 2012. I certainly intend to do a visit of the nature reserves in this country one day. Csorna is also the birth place of David Gestetner who invented a duplicating machine - a name I remember very well from my early days with office machinery. He is also one of the people credited with inventing the ball point pen.
You can see how the M85 motorway is here under construction which in this case is largely a by pass.
The road takes me to Győr, the largest town I pass through in Hungary. However, on this day, 8 June 2013, the Danube river is in flood and crossing the river is to prove to be more difficult than I expected!
