Gingin is a small town in Western Australia, located on the Brand Highway 67 kilometres north of the Perth city centre. It is the council seat for the Shire of Gingin local government area. Gingin had a population of 743 at the 2011 census, but the shire as a whole had 4,685 people. The town's economy is mostly based on agriculture, although there has been an increasing focus on science with the establishment of the Australian International Gravitational Observatory and Gravity Discovery Centre. There is also a small military airfield, RAAF Gingin, located nearby.

The Wheatbelt is one of nine regions of Western Australia defined as administrative areas for the state's regional development, and a vernacular term for the area converted to agriculture during colonisation. It partially surrounds the Perth metropolitan area, extending north from Perth to the Mid West region, and east to the Goldfields-Esperance region. It is bordered to the south by the South West and Great Southern regions, and to the west by the Indian Ocean, the Perth metropolitan area, and the Peel region. Mystery Craters

A unique, mysterious rock formation set in a subtropical paradise.
Just 100 meters off the main road halfway between Bundaberg and Gin Gin is Australia's most baffling phenomenon. Since their discovery in 1971 the origins of the 35 oddly shaped craters have remained a subject of controversy.
The mottled mixture of sandstone and ochre stain have been the subject of many investigations and various theories have been offered. Featured on many documentaries including - Getaway, Unsolved Mysteries of the World, Ripley's believe it or not, Great South East, Creek to Coast, Caravan and Motor Home Magazine etc.
Walk over the covered verandah, down the path, past the fairy garden you will come to the fantastic formation. On the walls of some of the craters are strange markings. Some of the craters hold water and some do not. Three of the craters resemble large footprints.
Through the archway you will find original photographs of the property and how the craters were discovered. A viewing tower is complimented by an informative commentary at the touch of a button.
